I went to DaBoyz last year and while comp might not be for everyone its was a great tourny.  Lots of cool people and fun stuff over the weekend.

I have been looking at the rubic and think it would be a great challenge to create a comp army to contend with the power house builds.  That combined with the ETC team tourny and this event is sounding like another fun time.

I will be attending and Jeff I hope you can keep up on the drinking because im going to drink you under the table (AGAIN)

The rubric seems to limit what I can do with an already limited Daemons codex, creatively *and* competitively. Like, oops, opposite of what the event should do. That sort of challenge is not my cup of tea. Best of luck, though.

P.S. Necron codex "exploration." LOL!

You know, Im really having trouble picking from  a list of 10 units, its impossible to fill anything above 1500 without taking two of something

Don't forget Wes and Ben there are 30 discretionary points. I can't imagine daemons or Necrons getting singed too hard. Unless you are running fate crusher or 3 liths.

I went to RIT and in Rochester and drinks and food are cheap.  To anyone going there I hope you try Dinosaur BBQ; the closest thing we have in this area is Red Bones in Somerville but even that is not as good.

I would love to try the team tournament, but not sure if i could find 3 other people to play with, if anyone is looking for a teammate I would probably be up for joining a team also if anyone is looking for another player.  I would be playing Grey Knights by the way, and I got 69 points in the prelims at hard boyz yesterday, so I can promise I don't suck.

You're putting words in my mouth and creating false scenarios.

You'll get "real answers" when you recognize your fallacies, however, they won't be from me. Enjoy your Internet tough guy routine.

Well said Ian, I am going to make this my signature.  It is awesome!

I didn't even see this reply until now.

I am not being a tough guy.  I asked for your opinion, you defined terms, instead.

I understand the difference between reality and theory, I know you do as well.   In theory, yes, it is limiting. In practice it forces people to not take the same net list that they always take.

Do some people who don't play spam/internet lists get affected?  Sure.
Is that the intended effect?  No.  But something they are willing to live with in order to get the intended effect.

I think you know/understand all of this already, which is why I was put off by your reply.  It was short and added nothing to the conversation.

I don't understand why you bother to reply sometimes and not actually add something of substance.  You aren't one of the trolls.

I like what they are trying to do, but I feel that the implementation of it was lazy and incomplete.

I for one think it will be nice to play against something other than transport spam for a change.

I understand your point about options being limited, but as a result of it, you will also see a greater variety, and it in fact rewards sub optimal choices in the name of variety.

Keith, I don't know what I can do for you. Maybe I can reword my post so it's clearer:

Limiting any options in any codex (beyond the parameters GW has already established for us all) limits creativity. If one does not have the ability to play whatever one wants, creativity has the potential to be stifled.

I dont agree with anything outside the codex and core book telling a player what they may field. If that means millions of razorbacks and long fangs, it's a price I'll gladly pay so that everyone can play with their toys the way they want to.

Anyway, all of this is essentially worthless anyway, since tournament 40k is nothing I'm really interested in. I just don't like the idea of subjective non-GW "solutions".

But hey, it's a game. Play it how you want to. That's what I do.

Hi Keith!  You call for a troll?  My work has wifi again pal!   ;D

Lololololololol!

Alright back to seriousness... Nah! Notice the people who do consistently well in our tournaments are the ones here that don't whine and bitch and just play the game and enjoy things.  I mean your playing with two inch tall toy soldiers, what's to complain about in life?

Who is whining and bitching?   Also, I do well in all our tournaments.  So I fail to see how that is relevant.

Please keep this relevant to the event called DaBoyz GT.  :)

If you want to grip about comp or rubic's in general please open a topic called something like Comp Sucks or something.

I appreciate you taking the time to post this.  It was all I was really asking for.  I should have just stated that originally.  I know you don't care much about tournament 40k.  I certainly understand why and that is a big part of why I do try to make it to as many steamroller events as I can.

Unlike PP, I don't think GW is particularly good at balancing anything or writing particularly good rules.  Even with PP, the steamroller scenarios and rules are often used by Hacksaw to try to balance what he feels are balance issues within the game.

You seem to like these changes in regard to Warmachine/Hordes,  but despise them in regards to GW.

I am not putting Da Boyz group on the same level as Hacksaw, he does a lot of playtesting and quickly realizes when things don't work, but it is basically the same situation.  Someone who didn't write the rules for the game is doing something to balance the game out.

You seem to like the character restriction in the new steamroller rules.  I just don't understand why you like it in place A, Versus B.

Last post in this thread as per Jeff's request:

I dislike the character restrictions in WM/H. I was willing to give them a try however. My opinion has not changed.
