I have been told I am required to play this year and now its just a matter of chooseing a army. Right now I am planning on bringing my Blood Angels. Sadly I don't owne any Super Heavys or other special units so it will just be 100+ space marines.

I recently signed up with my Eldar.  I've got lots of points and lots of options on how I balance my forces, including a super heavy and several flyers.

I do not have a great deal of enthusiasm about meeting Chaos head on in close combat.  I have some interesting close combat options, but crashing head on into waves of close combat chaos marines is not Craftworld Elefayin's idea of fun.

If anyone wants to field hoards of close combat marines, and wants some back up heavy stuff, I wouldn't mind teaming up and deploying horizontally, marines in front, backed up with Eldar firepower.  Anyone interested, let me know.  I'll tune my force around whatever my partner is missing.

Hello everyone. New to the forums... I signed up in person last night and will be bringing some combination of Sisters, Witch Hunters and Guard. More likely than not it'll be Sisters and Guard, but I'll see what happens with the points...

I'm assuming everything has to be WYSIWYG since otherwise it would be too hard to keep track of things.

Anyway I don't have any super heavies or formations or anything (though I think I can manage a Russ squad). I might consider getting Apocalypse-specific stuff if this is sure to be an annual thing and it ends up being my cup of tea.

For now though, I'm disappointed that there are no Sisters-specific formations. Sure, there's Witch Hunter stuff, and Guard stuff and Marine stuff that a Witch Hunter could have, but nothing that a dedicated Sisters player could make use of...

Should I post with a rough idea of what I've got, or are points enough? I'll check Faith rules and see if there's any reason to bring Celestine... If we share them she might be risky.

Sorry I have not replied sooner.

My name is Rick, and I have green Marines.  I am in the process of converting over all my bright green colored marines to salamander colored marines, a successor chapter called (will name it later).  I wont have much in the way of apocolypse big units, but I have some land raiders that might make it a few turns since we have some super heavies of our own.

See you on the Battle Field

Also has there been a pre-game meeting made yet to discuss what we are bringing, strats, and apoc strats yet?

In my opinion this is the type of stuff that should get a bit of discussion at this point.  Keep it fluffy, add in a little teamwork, and we are sure to have an awesome time on the 10th.

They've infiltrated our post. They have more posts in their thread.

We've already lost!

Will we meet to discuss strategy or exchange email or something?

I'm waaaghing all up in your thread!!!!!

In my opinion you guys should plan a meeting but exchange emails in case anyone misses the date you decide upon.  You have to remember too that there are a few people signed up that do not access the forums, cookie with his soon to be complete salamander army being one example.

I think the best bet would be to designate a primary person, someone you can all contact.  Not nescessarily someone "in charge", just to help keep communication clear.    I'm not sure if derek is taking contact info from the people signing up, if he is that is a good starting point for you guys to get some open discussion going about planning.

I think Librarian Eos would have been more appropriate but it still fits.

Good job

Anyone stepping up to organize this? I would but I'm a first-timer and when I stopped by I couldn't keep up with all the names of the various units being thrown around so I doubt it should be me...

Mostly we need to remeber to have our bases covered.

We need to be able to deal with flyers, Super heavy's/titans, massed troops, sudden ambushes, flank marching armys, Heavy Infantry, and toughness 7+ monserous creatures with 3+ or better armor saves. Ohh and be able to take and hold objectives useing troops.

Flyers are tough to hit and hard to really hurt without ap 1 weapons luckly they usualy have armor no better than 10 things with AA mounts are ideal and you should remember all pintle mounted weapons are considered to be AA mounted. the odd hydra flak vehicle is ideal but will be targeted quickly failing at that Pintel mounted storm bolters and heavy stubbers on rhino's and chimmeras are probebly the best for there points.

Super Heavy's and Titans can be tough I would like to see the two sides titans fighting eachother but its more likely they will focuse on nukeing troops. titan hammer squads are also very nice especialy with the new storm sheilds. that also makes them great against monsterous creatures.

Sudden Ambushes/Flank marched armys Also drop poding armys and the new demon codex army. they tend to appear where you least want them at the worst time. in most games they can be tough but with flank march and the less formal set up of mega battles you can see whole armys arrive in one turn right behind you. this takes some dedicated troops both mobile assault and ranged to get to them and nutrilize them before they do too much damage. I would be very suprised if we get to turn 3 without a good size army trying to get behind our lines. Idealy the troops dedicated to this should be fast, assault troops, or mounted, bikes and such, mabye even a few deep strikeing units in reserves to deep strike into our lines when needed.

Heavy infantry both sides will have terminators and similarly tough units they can often shrug off all but the worst attacks and I wont be suprised to see 100+ of them headed at us. as allways plasma weapons are great. these types of units are usualy very slow on there own, takeing out there transportation early and giveing yourself several rounds to gun them down is almost required.

Monsterous creatures cant forget these guys and not just tyranids but chaos demons too. unlike most titans these things tend to be decent up close and far more mobile. Similar to titans these things almost require you take them on with similar creatures and mechines. 12 las cannons shooting at a toughness 9 bio titan will only avarage 4 pre save wounds and with 8-10 wounds itself this could get dicey.

Finaly, Holding and Captureing objectives. We all love mega battles because we get to play around with toys normaly too big for the game but we cant forget the rank and file solders those basic troops that every army needs, in some ways guard are perhaps the best army in the game at holding a location, lots of men lots of guns. for objectives in our deplyment zone or near it bunker stratagems can keep our men safe in other locations vehicles with troops in or behind them stand a far better chance then alone.

I know none of this was useful at all but I should be reading..or asleep so I needed to waste time on something.
