Lock and Load spoilers.
« on: June 19, 2011, 01:12:20 PM »
Announced.  Next year Lylyth and Axphixious will be going epic again.  (I imagine one caster for each faction will).

Also, they have WIP pics of the circle battle engine.  I don't care how much it costs, I am getting one.

Also, pics of eBaldur are on the badges at L&L.

That is what I said.  I am not sure if reading it again would make it clearer  ;)

Not sure how I feel about a third incarnation of certain warcasters while so many are still waiting for their second.

The art for the Troll BE is kinda silly - they also got a Gun Carriage-type thing except its pulled by bison. The Circle one does look nuts though, and the new Feral Warpwolf looks awesome. Can't wait for the beast kits next year.

Oh, and the prototype for my Avenger looks sick. :)

Beast kits will be sick.

I was really hoping they'd do what they did at GenCon last year and let you order the new character 'jacks from their site while L&L was going on. :( July can't come soon enough.

How do you feel about those tables?  They look cool but seem like they've got way too much going on.

How playable are they?

They're all really nice looking. I think some of the funkier ones like the bridge table have specific scenarios being played on them at L&L. The bunker one does look like if could be a bit crazy though.

They're really nice for an event like L&L where you'll only play on them a few times and the novelty is really the attraction.

If you're looking for inspiration for the store, keep in mind hundreds of games will be played on the tables. Having permanent features loses its appeal at that point, no matter how nice they look.

I agree, those tables are for Iron Arena,  For people who flew in to get a pick up game against person XYZ they know from the PP forums.

NOT for serious tournament games.

Even weekly casual game would get tiresome on a table you can't change.

yes and no, it would matter how nice the table is if we are talking of a 10/10 or even 9/10
the table could become a legend.

I guess maybe for you, but I would be pretty pissed to always see trenches or hills.

I think the best way to build tables for daily gaming is to just make a variety of different high-quality pieces for themed table - winter, desert, urban, etc. That way it is still high-end but game-to-game customization is still possible.

If you ever would like help building terrain let me know.

TBH I am a little disappointed by what I feel is the re-skinning of the troll battle engine (its khador gun carriage with a big gun and instead of horses is being pulled by tuffalo's), but the other stuff seems pretty cool.
