RULES OVERVIEW FOR WARMACHINE / HORDES STEAMROLLER TOURNAMENT

The comprehensive rules and scenario packet can be found here.

Rule Books:
The Warmachine Prime MkII and Hordes Primal MkII Rules will be used.

The following is a list of legal army choices:

Cygnar
The Protectorate of Menoth
Khador
Cryx
Retribution of Scyrah
Mercenaries

Trollbloods
Circle Orboros
Skorne
Legion of Everblight
Minions

MODELS AND POINTS:

Each player must bring an army consisting of 35 points or fewer.  Each player is allowed to use one of the two 35 point lists they've chosen in each game they play.

PLEASE NOTE: This event will have a "Character Restriction."  You may only take a unique (named character) in ONE of your two lists.  Example: DeathJack, Lord of the Feast, and Vlad (any version) may only appear in one of your two lists.

HOW THE TOURNAMENT WORKS:

• Competitors will participate in a number of games over the course of the day based on attendance (probably 4, hopefully 5). In each game, you will play a scenario and record the outcome of the battle on your Tournament Record Sheet. Each round you will play a different opponent.  Each round will last 80 minutes.  Each player turn will last a maximum of 10 minutes.

• In the first round, players will be matched up randomly. After the first round, players will be
matched up according to current rankings in the tournament (e.g., the player in first place will
play the player in second place and so on). We will try our best not to pair players that come to the event together in the first round.  We will also try not to pair the same faction against itself if at all possible. If a player receives a BYE they will be awarded 1 TP and 0 CP's in accordance with the rules.

• You will not play the same person twice.

• The pairings for each round will be announced as soon as they are determined. Please be sure to
arrive at your table ready to play right away. We ask that each player be conscious of the
time and that you play at a regular and steady pace to complete the game. Anyone found slow
playing or deliberately stalling for any reason will be penalized.

• Each game will be played on a 4' x 4' board.

• Players will receive Tournament Record Sheets at the beginning of each round. Each results sheet must be filled in properly to ensure that match-ups and point totals are correct. Once Record Sheets are completed they are to be turned in at the counter so the scores can be entered into the computer.

The scenario packet can be found here.

What You Need to Bring with You:
-Your (hopefully painted) miniatures
-At least two copies of your army list(s)

PRE REG!

Also, does the Character Restriction prevent using the normal version of a caster in one list and the epic in another? I'd imagine so, but figured I'd check.

Hmm.  I hadn't considered that.

I'm going to say yes, it does prevent it.

It'd be dumb to allow that and restrict the rest.

It seems there are two Character Restriction variants for the Steamrollers.  In both cases Chase is correct.

Warcaster/Warlock Characters Restricted – Warcaster/warlock characters cannot be included in more than one of a player’s lists. Remember that the epic version of a character is considered the same character.

Model/Unit Characters Restricted – Non-warcaster/warlock FA:C models and FA:C units cannot
be included in more than one of a player’s lists. Remember that the epic version of a character is
considered the same character.
You're putting words in my mouth and creating false scenarios.

You'll get "real answers" when you recognize your fallacies, however, they won't be from me. Enjoy your Internet tough guy routine. - Ian

Any reason these start later in the day than 40k events?   If the mouth breathers can get started by 11am why can't we?

We can start earlier, but the WM/H events are much, much faster than the 40k or WHFB events.  That and I don't want to have to be up too early after staying late to set up the tables.

A general question, as I don't remember the answer, how long do these take normally?

Depending on number of rounds, we're usually done around 5.

I too would be a fan of running this earlier but I understand if unable, Chase.

Lately, we've been going 4 rounds... no reason to expect it won't on sunday.

I get home from work at 5am so yeah starting later is good for me.  If I get there at 11am that means I have to wake up at 9:30am.....4 hours of sleep should be sufficient lol.

I'm a fan of sleeping too!  Were all adults is 5/6 really THAT late? The 40k events are on till like 8!
