Citadel Finecast wave 1: Coming to Plainville this Friday

I was able to order a bunch (but nowhere near all of) the new Finecast stuff for the Plainville store today.

I basically just tried to restock the metal kits I am out of and pick up a few of the more popular special characters / blisters that were available.

I'm psyched to have some of the old metal kits restocked in the new resin, price increase or not!

There are some nice aspects to the new resin casting, but GW is totally spinning the crap out of this change. Almost nothing they say makes any sense.

The new stuff does look nice though.  The new White Dwarf just came in about an hour ago and there's a lot of pictures in there of the new stuff.

I was under the impression they are just using the same models but just made with resin.  So is there actually detail increase?

The "argument" is that the resin picks up small detail better. I don't think that the current line, designed for metal casting, will show much improvement. However, this does open doors for future kits.

Currently they are all the same sculpts.  Based on the pictures on the website and in White Dwarf, the models do *look* like they have a bit more detail... although maybe they're just ultra cleaned up.

Resin also photographs a lot better than metal for obvious reasons. Also, you're seeing the master casts.

Will there be ANY of the new Dark Eldar stuff? (Wracks, Razorwings, and Grotesques)

The DE stuff comes out June 4th, except the Razorwing Jetfighter which comes out the 18th.  All of those kits will be plastic.
