So I had an informative conversation with my GW rep just now...
First, any and all Necron models are not really available to order. He highly recommends not ordering ANY Necron stuff unless someone has pre-paid for it. For those of you that can't read between the lines here... Necrons WILL be the next army. I was more or less told exactly that. As a point of reference, I had no trouble restocking Tau.
Second (and this may not be news for most), but GW has discontinued it's metal model line and will be re-releasing many of their metals in resin. This new line will be called "Citadel Fine Cast" and the first 118 or so (of 300) models will be released on May 28th. I have been informed that they will be a VERY VERY limited in their initial release, with GW stores and stores over seas getting "first dibs". My rep said that he expects very little of the 118 models to be available to us the first month after release.
There are lists of models being released on May 28th on sites across the internet. I will post the list and the model prices in US Dollars later tonight or tomorrow once I receive the email.
The bad news: The models are the exact same sculpts as their metal counterparts but will be more expensive. In some cases the models have gone up slightly, in other cases they've gone up nearly 25%. Example: Hive tyrant.
When I asked if this would replace the annual GW price increase I was told that the price increase has already been rolled into the cost of these models but will not replace it entirely. Lame.
Finally, to end on a good note, the Dark Eldar wave 2 preview items will be arriving in Plainville (and probably Abington too) this Thursday. The items we're getting are the Pain Engine, Venom, and Scourges.
I will likely know more next Monday.
