Dissolve Glue without hurting plastic or magnet
« on: May 11, 2011, 09:08:31 PM »
So when magnetizing and putting together my Land Raider I accidentally magnetized the the Flamestorm cannons so that I have 2 left side Flamestorm Cannons. an Easy fix would be for me to flip the support post over but I think it would look silly upside down. Outside of drilling through the magnets and putting them in the right way anyone know of a way to just dissolve the glue?

You can try some Debonder. Luckily haven't had to use it myself, but that's meant to dissolve glue.

Ya I heard you can use that but Unfortunately can't seem to find it in a store around here. Tried going with a drill and those magnets stronger than you think. Did a quick look up and supposedly freezing the super glue (well glue with cyanoacrylate as the bonder) will cause it to be very brittle seeing if that works and maybe pry the magnets out. I feel stupid for doing this took all this care putting it in then realized that I set up both for the wrong side :(.

Just so people know. Freezing them didn't work Nail Polish remover tested on some spare sprue pieces didn't work. Tried chipping away at the outside of it Thinner magnets would work to do this thicker one don't without getting real ugly. I did a flip and remounted the pieces add a couple of details and it doesn't look bad at all.

There's a hobby shop down the street from me that sells it, Harry's Hobbies & Collectibles.
