Very intewesting aticule but I feel wike trolls ah a much Bettor army and would just pown the wintowr guad in combat.

That's a pretty interesting article, Ian. I really agree with the idea of misinterpreting your role in an engagement, or what it is your force is best suited to. I feel I always am in this situation with trying to guage new warcasters or the strength of a new faction. It also crops up a bit when encountering an unfamiliar foe, or being in a match-up where you don't quite have the tools you'd prefer on hand.

The concept of control is funny to think about in a way - at least to me. My primary faction is Cygnar and so I don't really want for ways to control the flow of a game. Clearly a model like eHaley is large and in charge out of the gate, but even without her I am at least going to start punishing you at range early on. When I step outside that, it's strange and I have to figure out a new way to get the upperhand in dictating how the game will develop.

When not running Cygnar I like casters and warlocks capable of getting their licks in first (i.e. Strakov, eKaya). It seems like the most obvious method. SPD and DEF feel like the most valuable traits in Warmachine/Hordes to me, so why not invest in them?

The touble for me definitely comes in that intermediary position where you're neither great at denial, nor fast enough to out-pace your opponent. It is still important to know your role in a game, but it can be less obvious. This is where experience with the game and the faction,  as well as familiarity with opposing models really starts coming into play. Most situations do have feasible solutions, but finding them, setting them up properly and executing them require lots of trial and error.
