Alright Ben going off of your statements what if my fun is with my friend who only has a GK army and I happen to only have a GK army.  So with your rule I wouldnt be able to have fun and play with my friend...

I hope you see where I am going with this.

I agree that people go to play the way they want to play.  But to think a Tournamanet isnt competative because it is doubles and YOU dont go to be competative doesnt change the fact that it is still a tournament and as Ian stated in its very definition is competative.

Adding in restrictions like the one you mentioned is counter intuitive to FUN players and COMPETATIVE player alike.

Competition and competitive are *not* interchangeable. A tournament is a competition. WAAC players are competitive. Not all competitions are competitive.

Competition:
-noun
1. the act of competing; rivarly for supremacy, a prize, etc.
2. a contest for some prize, honor, or advantage
3. the rivalry offered by a competitor

Compete:
-verb
1. to strive to outdo another for acknowledgement, supremacy, a prize, profit, etc

Tournament:
-noun
1. a trial of skill in some game, in which competitors, play a series of contests

The base word of competition is compete, and you can also see it in the definition of the word, and a tournament. I'm sorry Ben, because I like the fun aspect and less competitive aspect of tournaments as well, but it's a competition, and people will show up to win and do what they need to to win. We all good with the definition and point of the tournament?

I don't think there should be restrictions on having two people with the same army, but in the future there should be some rules defining the same HQs part, but that's the reason we have these discussions, to find the gray areas and have them set out in black and white for the next one.
So I win right?
You're not even playing.
So I'm winning?
Yes Alley, you're winning.

I dont understand the confusion here.  If you were playing a regular game could you take 2 mephistons in 1 force org chart?

You are SHARING a force org chart, so the idea that you could both take the same unique character is laughable.

As for limiting army combo, no no no no no no no no no no.  Can I throw in another no for effect?

It's like there is blood in the water but instead of sharks, nerds.  Instead of blood, unclear word choice.

Ben, I agree, there is a clear difference between WAAC and someone trying to play a good, strong game.  One literally doing "winning at all costs" and the other actually acting like a human.

I am willing to bet most everyone here is on the same page.

Perfect argument against two unique characters on the same team.

Can you throw in another no for effect? No.  :D

There are tournaments and there are competitive tournaments. That's the difference. And I do promise, my last word here on the subject.

I get the arguments here.

For the next doubles event we will not allow teammates to take the same IC.

We will also not restrict the possible team combinations.

You guys would have been SCREWED if Ian and I took off the gloves and used dual Ahrimans.
Dreadknights? SPAWN.
Thunderwolve Calvary?  SPAWN.
Guardsman number 121?  SPAWN.

So were you just going to have three squads of 9 Thousands Sons in Rhinos, Aspiring Sorcerers with Gift of Chaos and Ahriman? Because that's 1246 points and 4 Gifts of game-breaking tiger-blood win-cheese.

*sigh* I hate you, Chaos Space Marine codex.
