Indeed some very shoddy writing by Gamesworkshop.

Keith is correct here per the rules Chase has stated your ally for all inteisive purposes is a completely seperate army and therefor does not benefit from any army specific rules.  EVEN if those rules arethe same for both of the armies.

Ron and Wes, are you guys planning to team up?  I'm trying to finalize the roster.  Many teams have fallen apart this time around.

It look like Wes and I are going to do the double Necron team.

Chase quick question.

Since both armies are essentially there own entities, can each army take the same special character if they are playing the same army?

RAW I would say yes because they are completely different armies just paied together.

It's strange that I can't recall this ever coming up before, but I suppose they can.  It's not fluffy, but most tournament lists aren't.

The rules are the rules.  Nothing prevents it, so... Go for it.

That could amount to mephistons everywhere.

I'd imagine most people wouldn't do it for fluff related reasons, etc.

I feel like most people look at it like a 2500 point list split down the middle using two different armies (at times).  It's really two 1250 lists using half a force org (or something close).

We don't restrict it.  /shrug

I don't really care, I just think it is silly because it makes no sense and opens up an opportunity for abuse in a tournament with rules that heavily lean towards breaking doubles abuse.

This would only really be brutal with special characters that change the force org which in most cases would make it so there can be like 6 elite choices in a doubles team (or fast, or whatever it changes). Where the rules are aiming to limit it to only 3, the special characters would break that rule.

Ugg...  Is this the case with certain "new" models?

I think it's even more broken with a wolf/wolf pairing because that's 4 HQs. Imagine 2 Logan Grimnars and 2 Ragnar Blackmanes. That's just a complete punch in the face.
So I win right?
You're not even playing.
So I'm winning?
Yes Alley, you're winning.

That I actually would love to see because so many points are spent. Less long-fangs lol

Chase,
Not necessarily new models there are some in almost every codex that can alter the force org. I have to assume that Troy is asking because of Castellan Crowe. Crowe is cheap and makes one of the best units troops.   <3 Troy
