So who wants to be a partner to my Space Marines debut?

I have two Tac squads, one Scout squad, one Librarian, one Assault Terminator squad, two Dreadnoughts, two Rhinos and two Razorbacks (which can function as Predators in an FOC pinch).

Somewhere Soko has my Devastator squad, too. Those poor bastards may have to be proxied with armless soldiers wielding the heart of a champion. If I'm short on points, I may have to proxy a Drop Pod as well... I'm looking at you, peanut butter jar.

Ben, you think you got 1500 points? I wouldn't mind proxies.

I just realized Pat Mulvey isn't playing in the Doubles.  I miss that guy.

But the Doubles tournament is 1250 per. ;)

Definitely don't have 1500 yet. Eventually I will, but the models aren't built yet.

Ya Chase I been having some issues with work and stuff didn't find/look for a partner based on the fact that I haven't been able to ask for days off cause of unstable schedule of everyone during the holiday season. Saving up money also why I am not showing up recently hopefully in the new year I can get myself some new Pieces like a Ravenwing Battleforce.

Edit: any Clue how the Encounters Season is looking like right now Chase?

Cool.

The Encounters season is going well.  They all had a pretty fun night tonight.  It'll be good to have you around again.

When are you moving closer?

15,000 thread views and rising. :)

Two doubles matches tonight. This was a night where quantity was by no means an indication of quality. Both matches were something to behold.

BA & IG vs Eldar & Necrons, two lists with amusing gimmicks that kinda canceled each other out. Not the match either team expected, which is perfect tournament practice! I believe the team of Simon and Bill took the victory.

Spehss Mahreens! & Tau vs Grey Knights & Dark Eldar
My first match with the new Spehss Mahreens! (I just can't say/write it properly.) This was a solid match through and through, ended up being a very good match. We played the mission with diagonal deployment, so the action was all over the place. After 7 turns, we were tied in table quarters. Kill Points came down as a secondary, 13-11 in favor of the GK & DE. Boo hiss!

I made a couple mistakes in deployment, most notably with my Dreadnoughts. But overall, I felt good with the Space Marines. It was nice to have armor saves again, and to have dice that behaved. My general plan worked out well, too. I'm not sure what a 1-on-1 match up will produce, but it was a good run tonight.

My list wasn't Doubles FOC legal, but it's what I could do. Turns out I was also 15 points short. In other words, I cheated and still lost. :)

HQ
Librarian, Terminator Armor, Storm Shield

Elite
Assault Terminators x5, 4 TH/SS, 1 Sarge with LCs
Dreadnought, TLLC, ML
Dreadnought, MM, DCCW w/ Storm Bolter, Drop Pod

Troops
Tactical Squad x10, melta, ML, Sarge w/ Power Fist, Rhino w/ Extra Armor
Tactical Squad x10, melta, MM, Sarge w/ Power Fist, Rhino w/ Extra Armor
Scouts x5, Camo Cloaks, ML, Sarge w/ Teleport Homer

My basic plan worked. Having won first turn, I infiltrated the Scouts forward and used Gate of Infinity to drop the Terminators much closer to the front line, next to the Scouts' Teleport Homer. Those Terminators took a beating all game, but were key for me doing as well as I did. They punched through everything, and the Librarian's Null Zone later kept the Dark Eldar in check. Vance brought a Talos Pain Engine, and the Scouts put the final wound on that, as is their job. Rhino cover saves from Smoke Launchers was key, too. Ultimately, one Rhino delivered its payload and one immobilized itself in terrain and couldn't repair itself in time. One Dreadnought locked up Draigo and Pal(adin)s for at least two full game turns.

What I will need going forward is to build a Third Tactical squad. I also loaned out my Devastator Squad, and should build a second one. I have empty Razorbacks I'd buy for them too. After that, I'll get around to building those Thunderfire Cannons. They look hella complicated.

Null Zone removing Invul saves from Wyches that get it from being nimble is just mean. ;)

I can't even wrap my mind around the metaphysics of that...

Null Zone removes invul saves?  I thought it just forced re-rolls on successful invul save checks?
Reality is a cruel and unintuitive place with rather frustrating game-play mechanics.

It does Hydra but the concept behind Null Zone Hindering the sheer speed and agility that allows the wyches to have an Invulnerable save I think is what Torvald is getting at. Its just Story conflicting with Rules again :P.

Null Zone deploys a field of Psychic Energy that hinders and impedes Electric and Psychic Abilities that grant invulnerable saves. You can say that it would cause the Wyches inherent Psychic ability of being an Eldar species to cause a lag in Physical conditioning because of the Null Zone.
