That's a great idea, Pat.  I fully endorse it.

You'd think 500 points would mean less cheese, but the opposite can be true. In higher point games, you can bring more options to solve problems. At 500 points, some armies are truly limited. Cheese in that regard is relative. Like, I can still fit Fateweaver into a legal 500 point list.  :D

If I had Space Marines and had to draw up 500 points on the fly...

Space Marines - 500 points

HQ
Librarian w/ NZ and Gate - 100

Troops
4 Scouts, 1 ML and 3 Snipers & 1 Sarge w/ combi-melta - 95
4 Scouts, 1 ML and 3 Snipers & 1 Sarge w/ combi-melta - 95

Elite
Dreadnought - 105
Dreadnought - 105

500 even.

Tyranid Prime
dual swords, furious charge, regeneration

1x hive guard

tervigon
catalyst, cluster spines

10x termagaunts

21x hormagaunts

I think guard are the worst though, they can still fit an unbelievable amount of armor in at this point level

A 4 player game may be of my interest...But if that's already "filled up" I'm wheeling for a 1500 point game.

Even though I cant make it on thursday, I thought id make some lists anyway, if only to prove how cheesy 500 point lists can be.

HQ

Big Mek with kff - 85

Troops

23 boyz - 138
23 boyz - 138

Heavy Support

3 Killa kanz with grotzookas - 135

In this list, the sheer model count is alot for many armies to deal with, combine that with the kanz for taking out big stuff, and the kff for cover saves all around, you've got a very scary army

HQ

Big Mek - 35

Big Mek - 35

Troops

Deff Dread - Skorcha, 3 Dread ccw, Riggers - 110

Deff Dread - Skorcha, 3 Dread ccw, Riggers - 110

Heavy Support

2 Killa kanz Grotzookas - 90

2 Killa kanz with KMB - 120

The two big meks allow me to take deff dreads, which are normally heavy support, as troops choices, which means I don't even need to take boyz or grotz, and i can just put a giant amount of armor onto the table for just 500 points

Elite - 2x Crisis suit squad members, 2x Twinlinked missle Pods and 2x Flamer
-Teamleader , 1x Flamer, Twinlinked missle Pods, HW Target Lock, HW Drone Controller, 2x Shield Drones  -181 Points

Troop
6x Firewarriors - 60 Points
6x Firewarriors - 60 Points

Heavy Support
1x - Broadside XV88 -70 Points

-Total 498

I see no need to limit this to 4 players. We can always push two tables together.

I think we've got the makings of something here.

Fingured Id post some IG:

CCS w/ 4 melta guns
Vets w/ 3 grenade launchers and Chimera
Vets w/ 3 grenade launchers and Chimera
Vendetta or Valkryie w/multiple rocket pods

or

CCS w/ 2 melta guns, Chimera
Vets w/ Chimera
Vets w/ Chimera
Basilisk

Both 500 exact

And Daemons:

Herald of Khorne w/ icon and blessings of the blood god
5 Bloodletters
5 Bloodletters
Daemon Prince

500pts

I think any of these would be hard to beat, esp the 3 Princes

That Daemons list looks nothing like the ones I've drawn up...

Keeper of Secrets
Keeper of Secrets
4 Nurglings
3 Nurglings

or

Bloodthirster, UM, BotBG
5 Bloodletters
5 Bloodletters

or

Herald of Nurgle
3 Nurglings
3 Nurglings
Soul Grinder, Phlegm
Soul Grinder, Phlegm
3 Screamers

I'm beginning to think this could be really, really fun.
