here's another question to spark some yelling debate, does the Lychguard Dispersion Shield reflect back that  Space Wolf Jaws line thing?  I believe that it is a shooting attack.

I don't think so. JoTWW is a In check or removed from play. You don't get any inv save so not sure that would work.

Is anyone going to be there on thursday who would be looking for a 1500 point game? i know i am obnoxious about trying to set them up before hand, but it is a bit of an odyssey for me to get there, so i like to make the time count.

Shouldn't be any debate at all over dispersion shield. The attack must inflict a wound. JotWW, Boon of Mutation/Gift of Chaos and other characteristic tests do not inflict wounds. Ergo, a latin word. :P

In Greek, Erg means to do work, that is where the term ergometer comes from, and ergometer, or erg for short is a rowing machine, you know those ones at a Gym?

Viva La Thursday!

I'll be there with lots and lots of Grey Knights

Still not close on assembling the Necron army... pesky MW3 seems to be eating up all my free time

Oh Wes, don't become Thursday's resident hipster. Jason's been playing 40k for all of, what, three, four months? He hasn't had time to become one of "those" players.

And I haven't seen "those" players around on Thursday, so really I'm not sure what people are so guarded against. Fighting good armies? Those challenges should be welcomed.

Is it sad that I'm genuinely thinking about not signing up for the bowling league again so that I can come on Thursday nights?  :(

And I couldn't tell if Wes was being anti-Gray Knights, or anti-MW3...
Reality is a cruel and unintuitive place with rather frustrating game-play mechanics.

It's not sad, it's awesome.

And like Wes, there are people staunchly against Matt Ward for some reason. He's not good with the fluff side of things, but he'll give you the means to make a powerful army. I'll take that trade, and then make up my own fluff.

Not sad.  Just awesome.

It's very similar in my opinion.  Playing a game with people that share a common interest and all that.  ;)

I think the problem people have with ward is that he keeps making armies TOO powerful what ever that means. Some of his combos and units can seem a bit over the top. Im not giving my personal opinion, but i know that many people do gripe about him and his dexes. And as for wanting a powerful dex, i dont need super power, i want a dex with tools. Look at the aging tau codex, it certainly doesn't have any "super units" and many of its options are a bit pricey, but i love how much of a tool box it is, you can do a lot, and it forces you to really think about how you are going to play. lets compare it to another shooty army, say guard (i know this is not a ward dex, im just using it as an example), i have never seen a guard player use blocking vehicles, typically what i see is a guard army just line up on the back table edge and just plug away at the enemy. Nothing against guard, but to me this is kinda boring, both to play as and against. Tau can't really generate the ridiculous volume of fire guard can, but often when i am watching tau play, i see a lot more clever artistic playing with a lot more strategy then just target priority. Just my thoughts.

I agree with Emory about Guard being boring both to play and play against unless someone does something really off the wall. They don't have much to them otherwise.

The 2 times I played against IG were my least favorite games of all time from the aspect of they just shoot at you and so many of them you can't get them all.

As for Matt Ward generally from the 2 Codexes I read he wrote. Grey Knights and Necrons the Fluff and Lore have been completely changed around from what I used to know. Grey Knights were their own chapter and were completely independent but had very close ties to the Inquisition. Now they are part of the Inquisition. Same with Necrons who were ruled by the C'Tan to suddenly rebel against them and become actual emotional robots.

I just don't want Matt Ward writing the new Dark Angel Codex whenever that comes out. I want Cypher back as he was.
