Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay First Edition...
« on: November 03, 2010, 01:34:34 PM »
I am looking to possible run a WHFRP session every other week on Tuesday nights from like 6:30-close.  I would like to gauge who might be interested... 4-5 players to start with me as the GM.  Please post here if you would be interested.

A little about my RP style.....

Ever since I was GM'ing (going on 20 years now) I have always placed my focus on the story and having fun. I was never hardcore into encumbrance, and movement rules. Mostly I use them as guidelines for battles and travel time etc... I have always asked that my players interact in character (as best they can) and have fun interacting with my npcs and the people who they run into. I have mainly run good alignment campaigns but also I have run more evil / chaos campaigns as well.  I use magical items rarely but since you are adventurers you will find more then most. Also while this is taking place in the old world of Warhammer, I will take you other places and make up areas as well.

So if anyone wants to have some fun every other Tuesday at Battleground in Plainville playing Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (v1.0) let me know by posting here so we can get the conversation going on who wants to play and be involved.

Cheers.

I have GMed all editions of WFRP, but never played as a PC, so I am very interested.  With a little digging, I can probly turn up my rule book.

I'm intrigued by the idea. I think the world of WFB has many interesting stories to tell.  Would it be possible to peruse a book sometime to see what is inside for making a character?

Tuesdays tend to be very difficult for me and I have a DnD game on the last Tuesday of the month.  I could potentially be considered an interested alternate.

Battlegrounds Plainville has a copy of the book for sale on the bottom shelf of the RPG book rack. Making a character is fun. All of the stats are the same as in the minature game but pushed into a percentage. 1 or 10 is 10%, 2 or 20 is a 20% and so on up to 10 and 100 for 100%. The main dice rolled is a D100 and most damage is in the D6 range.

Steps for Character Creation...

Chose a race.
Chose a gender
Chose a name
Roll for height
Roll for weight
Roll for Fate Points!!! (what a great thing, can you say a 1up! or "Extra life")
Roll for Stats:   M, WS, BS, S, T, W, I, A, INT, WIS, CHR, LD, WP
Based on your rolls you may select four classes of adventurer (Warrior, Rogue, Ranger, Academic)
Then you roll for Base skills in your classes tree.
Roll for Career in your classes tree.  (ie.  Bodygaurd, pit fighter, theif, bard, wizards apprentice, alchemist, grave digger etc.... (over a 100 careers)
then you get your starting career's skills and trappings and start the game!

Tuesday nights are the only nights I have at the store. So once we get a few interested we can decide which Tuesdays of the month to play on.

Track this adventure and future play dates here: http://strategiccommand.webs.com/apps/forums/show/4638814-warhammer-fantasy-roleplay

Synopsis:

Our adventures started last night with all our characters coming together after their lives changed the day they were captured and bound for the slaver's market...

After the violent attempts of our dwarf slayer, and our over calculating, very cautious Elf wizard's apprentice, a fate point or two and lots of fighting...you were all released and rescued by a group of soldiers lead by an unknown lord.

Where will this tale lead.....?

(We will meet in two weeks for more Warhammer Adventures and fun)

WHFRP - A Slavers Bond
« Reply #12 on: December 01, 2010, 10:19:02 AM »
So our adventurers after being freed and trappings recovered they were asked to assist Lord Ostwald in his quest to recover is daughter that was taken and sold into slavery.

The groups wizard apprentice took time to study the logs and journals of the slaver captain "Cluny" who is now without a head. Everyone decided the best way to follow in the path of Lord Ostwald's daughter was to seize the slaver ship that was due to arrive later the next day and take the ship to Araby where Cluny sold his slaves. After a bloody and violent fight above decks the party captured the ship. With the dwarfs beginning to get sea sick, Thaelis, the Elven pilot assumed command of the ship with his commanding nature and charismatic charm. With Thaelis as the new Captain the ship set sail with a crew and charts following the path back towards the Arabic Slave Markets of Kir'reash.

A week passes on board the ship with some treasure fold hidden in the hold and plans were made of what to do with the other slaver camps they would come across. Powder the ships first mate tells the party that there are 2 more slaver camps to pick up "cargo" from. They make anchor just off shore of the 2nd slaver camp and following in the guise of the captain, Thaelis, Danni, and the Elven Wizards Apprentice go ashore to conduct business while Skaldor and Senri the dwarf warriors of the group remain aboard.

This camp seems smaller then the last one and only contained 7 slavers. It seems like a small number of men to hold down a small camp and capture slaves until the group meets the Slave band captain, a large armored ogre. With only half the party onshore Thaelis and the others conclude their disguise and complete the tasks of arranging the slave transfer.

Skaldor and Senri leave the ship in search of solid ground and a fight. In a long and blooded battle every last Slaver and even the Ogre himself was dismembered and killed by the party.

Resucing the slaves and sailing them to the closest city of "L'Anguille" The party restocks their ship and take a day in the city to rest and relax...

Where will their ship and adventures take them next?.....

Next week, December 7th...6:30pm You will find out....

December 21st.

We all finally met again to play.. Or almost all of us.

(As the GM I assumed the role of Skaldor, other players also helped with the rolling of or missing player.)

Senri, Thaelis, and the Elven Wizards Apprentice restocked and resupplied the ship and did some shopping in L'Anguille, split up the party went about their own shopping needs. Skaldor found a bar and spent 10 Gold Crowns on drowning his sea sickness, while Thaelis sought out some new leather armor, and Senri searched for some new axes. Our mage purchased some components for his spell but was attacked by some thugs on the way back to the ship. Senri happened to spot this happeneing and killed 2 of the 4 thugs before they ran off leaving the elven mage unconscious and half mugged.  Finally getting the ship underway in the morning the crew piloted the ship to the third Slavers camp off the Northern Coast of Estialla.

When they arrived off shore at the camp they loaded into their boats and went ashore. No slaves were being transferred to the ship and the slavers seemed a bit on edge with their crossbows raised as the party stepped onto the docks. The acrid smell of something was faint all throughout the camp. After conducting business Thaelis attacked the Slaver band leader which set off a large battle with the other slavers outside. The Elven mage quickly puts on of them to sleep with a spell and they falls prey to a crossbow bolt that cause so much pain he fell unconscious (again).  Skaldor and Senri dispatched 5 of the 8 slavers and the other three jumped onto a horse and slavers cart and bolted out the camp and down the road. After the captain was taken care of the party gathered everyone and tried to run down those that escaped.  Unfortunately there was no way to catch up to them.  Heading back to camp to free the slaves they found a mass grave with all the slaves burned alive.

Taking the log book, a sealed scroll and the camps lock box from the camp and the slaver captain as a prisoner to question the group sets sail from Araby. They question the slaver captain and get only 1 piece of info "the scroll was my get out of jail free card" to which they through him overboard to drown.

The ocean voyage went peacefully for four weeks with only two week of travel left the party and their faithful ship ran into a large storm. The shipped was tossed and battered for eight hours, the wind tore a large hole in the main sail and large waves washed two sailors overboard.  The storm finally ended with one last major hit on the boat that snapped the main mast and shredded rigging.

The decision was made to limp back to the north to the port of Magritta and refit. This would take two week with only a 1/3rd of their sails. Running low on food the coast came into view but so did a coast raiding ship filled with Pirates.

After having the rest of the sails shredded in the little cannon fight they had Our party raised the white flag to lure the pirates onboard and attack them to take their ship. As the Pirate captain and Thaelis  entered the captians quarters to discuss the surrender, the twenty pirates kept an eye on the rest of the party and the crew of their new prize.  Ten of them armed with firearms and the other with cutlass and sabre is seemed impossible to win this.

But what is a land without heroes...

Thaelis attacked the captain in his quarters and combat erupted all over the ship. While Thaelis dueled the captain the Pirates outsice opened fire dropping five crewmen and wounding two party members. The battle was bloddy and fast with crew and pirate falling fast. Our Elven mage got his head smacked around again and passed out (again!).  Inside the cabin the Pirate captain was being pushed to the edge of life by Thaelis and his sword skills. But as fate would have it the Pirate captain struck to blows that Thaelis would be lucky to survive. And as fate would have it (using a fate point) Thaelis dodged a blow that would have sheered his leg off only to find the second blow land on his neck breaking his spine and shattering his shoulder. (Death from Blood Loss and Shock was Instantaneous) The Pirate captain emerged from the cabin with the head of Thaelis raised in the air and demanded surrender. Skaldor went berserk and kill the pirate captain in one blow severing the pirates arm and opening up his chest spraying blood everywhere. With the killing blow to the other captain fighting resumed as Thaelis's head dropped to the deck and bounced overboard landing with a Kur-Plunk in the waters below.

Skaldor turned and charge the remaining six pirates who raised their guns and fired. Fate would be kind to Skaldor as the bullets would have killed him bound off his "iron nipple" and just knocked him overboard unconscious. With only Senrii alive and kicking the little dwarf launched himself across the gap between the boats to avenge his friends but came up one foot short on his jump and slammed into the side of the boat. Holding on with all his strength he looked up to see three blunderbusses pointed at him and taking lots of damage from the onslaught fell between the two boats and slipped beneath the waves. Fate would smile on him and the elven mage one more time this day.

After the pirates limpped away, Skaldor the slayer awoke in one of the rowboats and found his friends drifting in the water. Pulling them onboard and rowing towards land our party also limped away. Thaelis will be remembered...(how is up to the group)

The rest for another day....
