The stores will have a preview copy earlier than the 6th. See chase's comment.

Chase and BG crew,

As I will not be in attendance for this tourny and will be at a GT the outcome of this argument has some validity.  I would like to express my disagreement in letting the new DE codex be used in the tourny.  There are a few reasons for this as I will state below.

1.  Even with the advanced copy a player will not know all his rules in 2 weeks.
2.  In said using the codex to learn his rules it will limit the use to others at the store to enable them to learn the rules as well.
3.  Standard practice amongst numerous game stores and Grand tournies are to allow at least 30 days after a codex comes out before it is used to ensure all rules are learned and can be complied with.
4.  The margine of error is greatly increased in a situation such as this.

These are my thoughts and concerns.  Yes I am very excited about the DE codex but I also believe in the integrity of tournaments.  And as such this is why I have chosen to voice my concerns.  As I stated above I will not be at the tourny so the end result does not effect me but I hope that this descision is thought of carefully.

I ditto everything Troy said  ;D

To add to what Troy said, it is going to cut heavily into time during the game. I know personally I would want to see the rules for anything that is out of the norm, and having to do this multiple in a doubles tourney which generally run longer anyways will kill game play time. I am not able to go because I will be going to the same tourney Troy mentioned. If I was in attendance I personally would not have the time to look at the preview copy to get an understanding  of codex.

That said I won't be there so my opinion doesn't matter just fyi   ;D

This one made me LOL, I know players who've had their 'dex 2 years and still don't know their own rules. You can't expect everyone to be up to your standards :)

Personally I have no strong feelings against this, but do believe that if I have the Toy soldiers to play the game I should be allowed to play with my rules. If there were not preview 'dexes I'd say not, but there are....

Either way, my templars will bleed with their old codex :)

Cheers,
Alan

Yeah, I don't see much of a point in telling a player who has waited 10 years for their army book to come out that he can't use his new rules.  If you've got the models, play on player.  ;)

Anyways, I don't expect many Dark Eldar players in the event and I will ask each one to make sure they have a firm command over their army.

Riley can be a cheesy bastard when / if he wants to be but I know him well enough to say that I think he is a good sportsman.  If he has success it won't be based solely on some cheesy rule out of a new book.

I know an easy way to solve this.

If Steve shows up with a fully painted army, he can play the new codex.
