Steamroller event - Plainville
« on: September 10, 2010, 03:53:48 PM »
Just a heads up - There will be a Steamroller event at the Plainville store probably sometimes in the front half of November (unless you guys think Sunday is a viable option).

I'm sorry for having to delay it so much, but with a Magic pre-release, Grand Opening, and a few other events there just aren't enough Saturdays in October.

Let me know what you think.

i heard matt and ian talking about this a lot, but what is a "steamroller" event? is it just a 50 point tournament? or is there more special rules or stipulations about it.

question spam aside, id be in for a saturday event with the protectorate.

The date for this event is November 13th and will be a WARMACHINE / Hordes 35 point Steamroller.

(If the point value should be 50 points instead of 35 points please contact me or post here with your opinion.)

most players like 35 point games and there are a lot of new people just starting. also 50 points can take a very long time. however, steamroller is supposed to be 50; im sure you can do 35 though. i personally would prefer 35, since its faster and most people have a real solid list they like, where most people at 50 would just add whatever models they have available to them to make the extra 15 points.

i vote 35, but do not mind at all 50. thats my one cent (my opinion is not valuable)  :)

Dave doesn't know what he's talking about. 35 points is perfect.

I'm quite tempted but may sit this one out.  It's not from lack of interest but lack of experience.  I'll keep playing and when I can play a 35 point game in a reasonable amount of time, I'll sign up for them.

shh... they know that already. i posted this seeing the opinion part not the top half. i only posted cuz i thought steamroller meant 50. of course id rather play 35 where i have a solid list  ::)

I play a real slow game.  Like super slow.  Like I am again now going to apologize to Ian, Matt and Rick for being like Molasses on a cold New England day.   I'm getting the game more and more just need to speed up my decision making.

Don't apologize to me. I am typically slower than you are even with experience.

Just a heads up Chase.  This event is on the same day as thr DaBoyzGT which has a large warmachine event already.  Some of the BG crew has expressed interest in it so just giving a heads up.

Sundays are totally doable btw.  For me anyway.

And I am in the same boat as Rich.

Matt and I were the only ones planning on going that I know of. We'd both much rather support BG and avoid an 8 hour ride for just a Steamroller event.

I second Ian's comment. I would rather play at BG and support our own growing community than go to De-crazies tournament. I may go if their was no conflict but I am in no way attached to the idea.

We might loose Rick but I don't think it will destroy the event.

Sounds good then was just giving a heads up.  Rick is out for sure because he will be playing 40k in the GT anyway, also just a heads up.
