You always seem to ask right before I get to say it.  Way to make me look behind, hahah.  I'll throw more things at you guys. ;)

I figure this is about as late as I can wait before you 'get to say it.'  If I wait any longer, you'll beat me to it and post first.

We're still go?  Is the band practice shifting us any?

Ahah, sorry.  You're my guideline sometimes.   ;)  Game is as normal, starting at 11.  Nothing interfering.
It's the throwing phase now.

i was on the receiving end on occasion

Nov 4th?  Tuesday?  I wouldn't think so.  I believe we are good for the 8th, though.

The run on the 1st was ugly.  We got word from some friendly mutants where The Chain was due to strike next, and laid in wait.  Three players showed up.  Wicke and Wolf survived the encounter.

The opposition included a mutant techie who hauled a big bomb into the battle zone, and spend several rounds triggering the fuse.  He was surrounded by a dozen mutants providing cover and protection.  There was also a fairly potent psycher lady, plus their leader.  Their psycher, their tech priest and our tech priest died.  For once, Wolf didn't rush into combat, but instead used his alien weapon to great effect.  We tried to prevent the arming of the bomb, but didn't quite pull it off.  There were just too many bad guys, too few player characters.  The leader also seems to have a very powerful protection of some sort.  He took a solid double hit from Wolf, which he basically ignored.

The Baron revealed himself to yell at the leader.  The leader turned pale.  The huddled masses expressed great appreciation for the Baron.  The Bomb went off.  Scratch one more area of the mine complex.  No aliens were spotted.  Once the bomb was armed, everyone promptly left.

Wicke's next buys?  Jaded.  After getting drenched in the psycher's blood and seeing a long time comrade killed, I figure seeing more blood won't be a big deal.  Also, sprint.  There comes a time in every young psycher's life when it is good to be able to run away...

The people in the ops center didn't entirely approve of the Baron once they recognized who he was, but they didn't try to cross us.  The friendly mutants figured out we were Inquisition, and were properly worshipful.  The general population showed great reverence towards the Baron.  We could become kinda popular if we decide to give up our covert approach.

Hmmm....  There is a Saturday the 16th in May of 09, but in Novermber of 08 the next two Saturdays are the 8th and 15th.

But I'll be glad to see you whenever you can make it.  Methinks we are going to need more firepower.

Yes, Eric, if you could just text me the friday or Saturday morning to let me know whether or not you can make it it'd be great.

The game will run this Saturday, though I will need to end it a bit short so that I can get ready for the homecoming game at 2.

Work. 12-10. You can go ahead and kill my character off if you want. I barely make it anymore with work being as fethed as it is

There is no need to kill the character off.  One can always serve the Emperor in other ways.  For example, on the world we're working on now, there is a need for mineral extraction specialists.   ;)

This week, we finished off the mine world encounter.  The  primary fight was Wolf, Wicke, the Baron and a bunch of local arbites against a demon gifted enemy leader, a dozen mutants, and a hoard of zombies.  Wolf, with the help of his lucky flail dipped in the Baron's blood, took out the opposition leader, which in turn collapsed the zombies.

Our original inquisitor seems to have managed to find us, and we should be rejoining him next session.

Usurper!  It's my job to nudge Rob into confirming the game!   ;)

Guess I was a bit slow.  I'll be glad to see you back, Erik.

Acolyte Force Mix
« Reply #59 on: November 16, 2008, 06:35:21 AM »
Inquisitor

Through most of my experience with the Inquisition, I have been the lone psycher supported by a half dozen or so more ordinary if no less capable acolytes.  It has been my notion that using the warp should be a last resort measure.  By preference, I would use psi not at all, using healing only to prevent fatalities.  In general, this has worked.  Even so, I have use psi too much, and have twice lost control in a major way.

The current mix is two psychers plus Wolf.  I would not underestimate Wolf.  He is a significant force in any small skirmish action.  However, even Wolf cannot shield two psychers from contact with an opposing force by himself.  He cannot win conflicts by himself.  With the current personnel mix, psi will have to be used not in emergency, not as a last resort, but as the default means to resolve conflict.  Wolf and I will be attempting to shield Jerry from the enemy.  Jerry has shown little restraint.  He seems willing to burn with little hesitation.  He seems likely to become our primary combatant.

This makes me uneasy.  I am currently studying advanced techniques which will hopefully enhance my own control.  Even with improved control, I will not be inclined towards psi as a first resort.

But we need a better force mix.  We need the possibility of resolving conflicts cleanly without resorting to occult means.  Whether this is best done with storm trooper support or additional acolytes, I could not say, not knowing current personnel ability.  Still, I believe some form of additional support is required.
