2010 Warhammer-Empire New England Bash ...
« on: April 26, 2010, 11:44:13 AM »
Hi folks!

The 2010 Warhammer-Empire New England Bash is being held again this year at Battleground Games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday July 23rd, 24th, and 25th.

As some of you may know, we are a group of players who frequently participate with the Warhammer-Empire website.  Last year we had 12 folks attend, including a two from out side the region.  We are inviting anyone who plays Empire to this event, and most of those already signed up are Empire players, although some will be bringing other armies as well.

This year’s schedule has been expanded:

Friday, July 23rd …Lexington and Concord Tour, starts at 11am Lexington Green, lunch can be between noon and 1pm, and then off to Concord with a stop or two along the way at other historical locations including where Paul Revere is believed to have been captured.  Then we’ll head to dinner at Durgin-Park Restaurant, Boston’s Faneuil Hall Market Place, 6:00pm, first drink on GamesPoet (age appropriate), this is a classic and very casual place, portions are worth the mid range prices, menu full of old fashioned Yankee style, its an excellent experience.

Saturday, July 24th … Battleground Games, Abington, Massachusetts, opens 10am.  1500 Point Tourney, random draw, 4 rounds at 2 hours each, 1st three rounds are 11:00, 1:15, 3:30, a break for dinner, and then 4th round after dinner.  Army composition includes GW army books, DoW, SC, and RoR allowed, with 2 army lists needing to be presented, one for you and one for your opponent.  Points must be listed for units, but hidden items can be present on your copy only but must be shown to the opponent after the game ends.  Scoring will be pure victory points compiled over the 4 rounds.  For DoW converted models are permitted, but with Special Characters and Regiments of Renown, the official models must be used to represent them.  Entry fee $20 with all proceeds to go towards prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, in the form of merchandise from the store.  Dinner is your choice, but GamesPoet will be picking up pizza for lunch or dinner, but not both, to be determined.

There will also be at least two players already confirmed who are creating a small three game escalation campaign that will be tied into the Warhammer-Empire’s "Treachery and Greed" summer campaign event.  This will be suitable and available for others to try if anyone wants to attend, but not playing in the 1500 point tourney.  Watch this thread for the details to be announced.

Sunday, July 25th … Battleground Games, Abington, Massachusetts, opens  11am.  Empire Skills Games, 11:30am, at the moment this will include a cannon contest of some kind, details still being finalized.  Sunday is also set aside for players to match up in some casual games, and there will be those who will be bringing army lists that have been created for the Warhammer-Empire’s Treachery and Greed on-line campaign.

If you plan on joining us for any of these activities, feel free to post here and let us know what you’d like to participate in from the activities being provided.  Currently we have 9 confirmed attendees, and a handful of other’s who will be getting back to us soon.  We figure there is enough room for 18 folks at most, so let us know, and it will be first come first serve.

If you have questions, post below and we'll keep an eye out to provide answers asap.

Will the events be using the the current (7th edition) rules or will it be using the 8th edition rules that will be on sale July 10th, 2010?

If you don't have your Empire army finished yet, don't worry, bring it anyway because there are no requirements to ahve a fully painted army.  Besides, there are just under 3 months till this event happens.  Otherwise, bring a different army and join in on the fun.

That's a very good question.  This event has been in the planning stages since late last year, well before we had a firm idea on when the new rules would be released.  I'll try to get a concensus from the folks planning it, and then I'll get back to you.

What you see above in the first post is the details that we know as of now, and although those won't likely change, there are some details that still need finalizing and I'll post them here when such are complete.

With two months to go before the event, here's an update ...

We will be using 7th edition for this event.

It seems too close to the release of the 8th edition to be using those rules for this 1500 point event, particularly since the rumors seem to be telling folks that the 8th edition seems to be gearing towards having larger games and more figures.  Giving folks an opportunity to get familiar with the 8th edition also seems appropriate.

Only 3 weeks to go before the big weekend is here!

Hey Rob S ... regarding this ...

Guess I'll have to find people with Chaos Dwarfs to fight. :p

... forgot to reply letting you know that Chaos Dwarfs will be permitted in the 1500 point tourney on Saturday.  Think you can still make it?

2 more weeks till the 2010 W-E New Engalnd Bash!

Work has started on a 3 game ladder campaign, to include a warband scenario, a pitched battle scenario, and a last defense scenario.

Plus there is the 3 round 1500 point tourney wiht details listed further back on this thread.

Looks like we have about 12 folks scheduled to attend, but there's room for a few more if someone else would like to particpate?

Let us know if you have any questions.

If a local player is interested, does he have to play Empire?  If not, is any list from any current army book okay?

Do the models have to be painted in order to play?

Non-Empire armies are ok, and some folks from our website will be using other armies.

Current army books are ok, and there are some details regarding army composition in the first post of this thread.

Models do not need to be painted to participate.

Also ... the 3 round tourney on Saturday is using 7th edition rules.  All other casual games during the weekend can use 7th or 8th, whatever folks agree upon before their game.
