Moon Table - Terrain and Interactions
« on: March 16, 2010, 09:55:28 PM »
The Moon table will have several fancy terrain related features:

Fortress of Redemption - While the Fortress is intact it will allow the controlling player (team) to fire an Orbital Bombardment (as per the asset) down on the planet surface.

It will have armor 14 all around and have 4 structure points.  When it is destroyed the model will remain on the table, in ruins.  It will lose it's ability to fire the Orbital Bombardment.  It will still grant cover and block line of sight and models can still stand on it to gain whatever benefits they might.

To control the Fortress a team will have to have more models (bases) ON the Fortress than the opposing team.  We will ask teams to count this up when appropriate.

Bastions - While the Bastions are intact they will influence the power of the Orbital Bombardment fired down by the player that controls the Fortress.  For each Bastion the player controlling the Fortress controls they will get 1 addition die to roll while placing the Orbital Bombardment.  If memory serves.... controlling 1 Bastion will make the Orbital Bombardment go from a Barrage 4 to a Barrage 5 "weapon" etc.

The Bastions will act a bunker (capacity = 10) with armor 14 all around and 2 structure points.  Also, while occupied the controlling player may have the Bastion fire it's Heavy Bolters as per the rules governing Bastions in the Planet Strike book.  You may not fire the "Las Cannon" on top of it.  When it is destroyed the model will remain on the table, in ruins, weaponry destroyed.  It will still grant cover and block line of sight and models can still stand on it to gain whatever benefits they might.

Changed Fortress and Bastion such that they act as a bunker instead of an immobile transport.

Also, units may stand on the Bastions and Fortress.  These models will not count towards the capacity of the models and will gain whatever benefits they might due to their features (cover).

We have decided to remove the Drill from the game.  After setting up the table tonight we decided it looks better without it.

We have moved the Fortress into the center of the table.

We have moved the Bastions around.

Further changes may appear tomorrow.

Edited again, last minute, as I'm sure you all love.

The Fortress lost it's transport capacity and the rules for who controls it have changed.

This is a product of having to rearrange things on the table.

The Moon table is likely to look quite a bit different than the picture illustrates.  The Bastions will probably not form a line across the center of the table.  The meteor will not be on the far end of the table.  The Fortress will be in no-mans land.  The Bastions will be spread out and will likely lack total symmetry.

Consider the intel you received faulty.

It seems that this table interaction stuff is all flowing downhill.

Three cheers for gravity?
