Sub HAWK TRANSPORTER:  (Same as a Thunderhawk transporter in abilities)

The Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter
Pts: 550
Front: 13
Side: 12
Rear: 10
BS: 04

Type: Super-Heavy Aquatic/Flyer, Orbital Lander

Structure Points: 3

Crew: 2. Space Marines

Weapon: The Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter has Two twin-linked heavy bolters and Three twin-linked LasCannons.

All Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporters have a decoy flare launcher.

Options: A Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter may carry up to six Hellstrike missiles / Torpedoes for +10 pts per missile.
Transport: A Poseidon "SubHawk"Transporter may carry four Dreadnoughts, four full marine squads or any variant there in.
( Vehicles and passengers must be paid for separately.)

SPECIAL RULES
Ceramite Shielding: In order to resist the pressure of atmospheric entry a Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter has thick ceramite shielding. This makes it resistant to melta (and melta-type) weapons. Melta weapons, including melta-bombs, never roll an extra dice for armour penetration due to being at half range.

Decoy Flares / Countermeasures: If the Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter takes a glancing hit from enemy fire, then it may fire its decoy flares to re-roll the result. The second result must stand, even if it is better than the first. Decoy flares may only be used once per game.

Unloading Vehicles / Troops: Vehicles and Troops can disembark from the transporter very quickly. The Poseidon "SubHawk" transporter lands using the normal orbital lander rules.

Loading Vehicles: An empty transporter can pick up a vehicle by using the orbital lander rules to land on top of a vehicle. It must then spend a complete turn on the ground whilst the target vehicle or troops are loaded in each bay. When the transporter takes off it takes the vehicle (and any passengers) with it.

Im iffy on your sub hawk. thunder hawks only have 2 las cannons, 4 heavy bolters and either a battle cannon or a turbo laser for an additional 30 or so points. They also carry 6 bombs or 6 Hell Strike Missles. The Capacity is also only the Equivilent of 30 Marines. 4 Dreads is only 20 so your cutting yourself short there. Also the armor value of a regular hawk is 12-12-10.

The Transporter is also different. It cant carry dreadnaughts or marines unless the marines are already embarked in the veichle being carried. It can only cary 1 Land Raider Chasie or 2 Rhino chasies. Also the Transporter only has 4 twinlinked heavy bolters for guns.

Also the hawk has the skimmer mode special rule. It has to declair its becoming a skimmer on the turn you plan on dropping of anything and it counts as a skimmer having moved full speed. The transport MUST remain as a skimmer until the next movement phase if you want to disembark anything.  While in this mode it can move a maximum of 24 inches since it is a fast skimmer. while in this mode it can not drop any bombs. At the beginning of the next movement phase you may declare it returning to normal flight mode.

I think your hawk is cool but it doesnt seem to have the correct rules. I may be mistaken, and correct me if i am wrong, but it looks like you probably got the rules from the Imperial Armor book that has all the space marine veichles in it. The rules in that book are now void by the Apocolyps rules for Flying transports.

Steve, I think what he's doing is using his own version of a conversion of the Thunderhawk.  While he may be shorting himself in certain areas, it is still 350 points cheaper than the normal T-Hawk.  Differences aside, I think it's well worth it's values.

I personally like the King Crab a lot!  I think it's a very cool concept, except you're going to have to check your Armaments.  Assault Cannons are normally AP 4, not 3.  So if it's a variation of a different weapon, you'll need to correct that.

Nice pics too, btw!

<Grand Master Steve >  Well depending on the battle I might not use my Sub hawk this time around... I used it last game becuase the only thing on the table was my vehicles and all troops came in in round three where they were needed...but unfortunately they were blown out of the sky.  Its basically a thunder hawk transporter carrying 4 drop pods... the Heavy Bolters are Anti Aircraft and the Las is its only defense once its on the ground.  I did create the rules around the Imperial Armor books. So that can be changed.

<Rurouni Benshin>  Thanks for the comment. Your right Assault Cannon should be AP 4 Str 6

my only comment is that the kraken has 4 structure points, and is significantly smaller than a warhound, which has only 3

well alright, it seems weird to me since I own a real thunder hawk. But yeah you might want to look at the new Apoc rules for super heavy fliers they changed how disembarking from a flier works and how to do it.

NP Grand Master Steve. I will look at the Apoc rules today. The whole chapter is somewhat special since its based on being completely submerged. I figured when converting the model that it was something new to assist them in protecting the waters of the planet from zenos species. There was even a picture once in White dwarf I think or on GW online of little square pod shaped bunkers.  Hmm that gets me thinking about making those "pods" actually drop as it flies by like the valk does with letting folks use grav shuts etc...hmmm

For fluff and probably fluff alone, the "bombs" can be missles that fire out of the "water" like a modern day sub would launch.

Fluff wise they are Torpedoes instead of Missiles, and Depth Charges instead of Bombs

The vichle just so happens to also work in normal atmosphere as well as non-atmosphere. after all space craft need to withstand tons of pressure and have to be air tight.
