The scoring method we are using for the Megabattle is identical to the scoring rules in the 5th edition of the Warhammer 40k Rulebook under the heading “Scoring Units” (pg. 90) with the following exception:

An objective is scored if a team has a scoring unit within 6” of it and the enemy has no contesting models within 6” of it. (Apocalypse Rulebook pg. 24 under the Victory heading)

Any model may contest with the exception of:
Immobile vehicles
Flyers that are considered “flying”

Generalized and simplified (because there are exceptions):
A team scores an objective if they have a troop choice model within 6” of an objective marker and the opposing team has no models with 6” of the same objective marker.
An objective is contested if both teams have models within 6” of the objective marker.




Each 4x6 table will have an objective either built into the table itself, or as (part of) a terrain feature. This objective may be located in your teams deployment zone, in the opposing teams deployment zone, or in no mans land. These objectives may not be removed or destroyed for any reason (exception: specific stratagems, but not vortex grenades or missiles).

The 5v5 tables will have exactly half the number of objective points the 10v10 table has available.

Not all objectives will (necessarily) be worth the same number of points. The value of each objective will be made public once construction of the tables is (nearly) complete and we can give each team an accurate map of each table.

Scoring for YOUR TEAM ONLY will take place at the bottom of (end of) your player turn starting round 2.

Each table will score points independently.  The number of objective points your table scores throughout the event will be divided by the number of rounds that table has played.  This will give you your tables’ final score.  The final scores on each of the three tables will be combined and the team with the higher number will be our winner.




In addition to the “built in” objectives there will be another scoring option…. It works like this:

Every player will be asked to bring one additional model to the event. This model will be included in your army at no cost. It must be based on a Terminator sized base. We ask that players paint the edge of this base white so that it stands out on the table and is easily identified by all opponents.  This is required.

Players may enter only this model in our painting competition if they choose. A prize will be awarded for the best painted model(s).


The model has the follow statistics:

Hand Weapon
Gun: Rng 24 Str 4 Ap 3 Assault 2

Special Rules:
Fearless
Eternal Warrior
Monstrous Creature - for rules purposes only, he doesn’t have to be modeled as such
Hitch a Ride - detailed below

He must start the game in play.
He must be deployed within 12” of your table edge.
This model counts as a scoring unit for purposes of claiming objectives.

Hitch a Ride - If this model begins the movement phase within 2” of ANY allied transport he may “hitch a ride” with it. He will not count against the transport capacity of the transport because he never actually gets inside. He can ride on the transport up to 12 inches before he has to “hop off”. This movement replaces his normal move.  He must "hop off" any transport he rides with by the end of the movement phase each turn. After he “hops off” the transport can keep moving as normal. The transport does not count as having dropped off it’s cargo. Other troops in the transport can disembark as normal (or not). The model can “hitch a ride” only once per turn.

Edit:  He can not ride IN any transport for any reason.  He can only ride ON a transport as stated above, and MUST "hop off".

Significance:

If this model is killed in the 24 inches closest to your table edge his corpse becomes an objective worth 5 points to the opposing team.

If this model is killed in the 24 inches in the middle of the table his corpse becomes an objective worth 3 points to the opposing team.

If this model is killed in the 24 inches closest to your opponents table edge his corpse becomes an objective worth 1 point to the opposing team.




Current special rules / restrictions:

Cavern Table (Sewer System):
No super heavy walkers, gargantuan creatures, flyers, or drop pods will be allowed.

edit: clarification

Added a line that makes it clear the special character must "hop off" the transport he rides with by the end of that movement phase.

In regards to the "leader" each player gets, it seems that it's not possible to score any points on your own (or an allied player's) leader, only your opponents. Is this correct?

does the "leader" have a power weapon(s)?
does he have a pistol to give +1 attack in assault?

Since the leader is a monstrous creature, he ignores armor saves. He doesn't have more than one weapon listed, so cannot benefit from the +1 attack his pistol would normally give.

That's the remaining challenge.  Fortunetly, we've got about a month and a half to track everyone down.

So.... everyone HAS to take this model? I have no problem doing it I just want to know if its a necessity or an option.

As long as they both begin their movement phase within 2" of the single transport, yes.
