'Catan' Players Set World Record
50-Hour Marathon Benefits Cancer Research
A team of six Settlers of Catan players set a world record for the longest board game marathon when they played Settlers of Catan: Cities and Knights for fifty consecutive hours.
The six players from Langley, British Columbia had played 12 games and were in the midst of their 13th when they reached the 50-hour mark. Their record, which surpassed the previous mark of 42 hours and 48 minutes that was set in 2006, has been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. The six friends were not only trying to set a world record, they were also out to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.
