I do question this business model, too...

If they sculpt and manufacture these great models, why make them limited?

I wonder if the expense of making the sprues has gone down do much that they can make a new limited box like this every year or so, sell out of them quickly, and just move on.  If the profit is there, I guess it works!

I did like when the starter marines were usable as any chapter, but that's my bias :)

These are all great models, but limited stuff just irritates me... Though I am interested to see GW is al least trying to change.  Now if only they would make the mini rulebook cheap and readily available to get people playing!

Probably to cater to the people that collect stuff / create a sense of urgency or hype.

It's a great product, similar to what Wizards of the Coast puts out for it's limited edition Magic releases.  They purposely don't print enough so that it's a collectible, generates hype, and gets people talking (like this thread and your post, Shawn).  People that get it now have something "cool" and all that.

I wonder if they'll come out with these for other factions. It would be cool to have like a Grey Knights vs Demons or Necrons vs Space Marines box.
Should the miserable Grot crews survive for long they will soon become deafened and have to resort to a rudimentary system of sign language. This is rarely successful as there are only so many signs a Grot can carry around with him.

Going by the announcement, I don't think this is the official starter box.  Just wish they would stop with the marines, let the true heros of the Inperium have their day.  Those rave, countless, unsung heros of the Astra Milatarum.

Otherwise, see my other thread with my order request :)

So I guess we can assume Space Wolves will be the next codex update.

Yep getting a new Flyer too. It looks like a flying brick shithouse but has some pretty nasty armaments on it.

I took a bunch of the copies left over in Abington, but they should still have some.

I'll have them set aside one for you, Dave.
