I don't see tarpitting it working, what with the stomp attacks and all. And it's going to take a lot of shots to kill it, but on its own, it can only do so much damage. I think ignoring it is probably the best strategy. I think the problem will arise when people bring three or more to a fight. One can be killed or ignored, but three knights moving 12" a turn and shooting their way up the board will not be easily dealt with. Unless you have a ton of melta or a few flyers, but then we get into the all comers list argument, three flyers or three drop pods full of melta sternguard is hardly all comers.

I think melta lots of melta, with the super heavy rule of explode causes 1d3 "aditional hullpoints.. Means one hit can take up to 4 hullpoints.
As for flyers, if you have 5 knights and flyers dont come in till turn 2, and with variable game length, will the flyers make that much of a scary diffrence anyway? I see the knights just digging in. Game could end at turn 5 :(
Plus with a pure knights army they get that  +1 to the ion shield and warlord traits.

Weren't Meltas the meta game of 5th ed, back when regular tanks were nigh invincible? With the introduction of super heavies and possibly lords of war, it looks like the game might shift back that way.
