Wrecked flying crons do not take the hit
« on: January 19, 2013, 05:50:36 PM »
From the new FAQ,

Q: If a unit is embarked on a Night Scythe that is wrecked explodes, do they suffer Strength 10 hits with no armour saves per the Crash and Burn rules before they are placed in reserve?
A: No.

Thoughts?

Its because techniqly they are not physicly in the Flyer it provides a teleport for that unit. I think how ever for the unit that was going to be beamed in they should all be lost because now their method of beaming in is gone. Unless other methods are provided like the Monolith or something.

I recall batteling some Dark Eldar that had the first turn of only Bikes and Those dudes with Green Goblins hover board forgive my memory and they were the only units that could open the web way. After whipping them all out he was tabled because the rest of his army was stuck in the web way. I think it should work along those lines.

The rule now reflects the fluff, and vice versa.

OHNOES!  There's a rift in 40k space time created by the fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/fluff/rules/.... reflectioningism.  Damn you Ben!

In other news, I think this is great, we were sorely lacking in the e'rybody take croissants department.  Man I get the sarcasms when I'm tired.
Too busy being AWESOME to listen to your whining.

Given that the novel Hammer & Anvil depicted Necrons waiting on the other side of such a portal being damaged/destroyed by the explosion coming through the rift when their Night Scythe was shot down, the fluff easily justified either position.

I'm just glad that there's a clear ruling now.

I too, could have seen it go either way.  I am just glad a decision was made.

Can the "embarked" Necros come out any other way or are they completely lost?

Ah, right. Well, I meant the fluff directly above the rule. :)

They come back as reserves.

Can they come in Via lets say a Monolith or anything like that or they are just in reserves and have to walk on?

I believe (meaning I could be wrong) that they are regular reserves, however, other tools Necrons have, such as the monolith, can do special things with units in reserve, and these would be no different.

I'm glad it took almost a year and various updates for a company to tell me that I was playing their game correctly since Day One.
0000 - Rest Period - BUT YOU BETTER NOT SPEND FOUR WHOLE HOURS SLEEPING. IF YOU DO YOU ARE NOT ANGRY ENOUGH AND TOMORROW YOU GET THE FIRST CHANCE TO PLAY PIN THE TAU ON THE CARNIFEX.
