I haven't done much with my airbrush and minis so I haven't looked it up much. You can also try searching through cool mini or not's forums, they have a ton of information.
All I have used mine for is adding a highlight to figure out where the natural light would come from, which also helps to pick out details.

I just use mine to base coat. An air brush + GW foundation paints = smoothest basecoat I have ever applied.

Don't mean to Necro a thread but what type of Airbrush would you suggest I had gotten a Citadel Spray gun but had no luck on my first use with it the propellant didnt seem to last long enough for me to get a meaningful basecoat on my minis.

The propellant is great to get a hang of the air gun but a compressor makes it so much easier. I use a compressor with the GW spray gun and works pretty well.

I use
http://www.bearair.com/
for my airbrush needs. I currently run a Scorpion II with an Anthem 155 (?) brush. They are a shop in Massachusetts and very knowledgeable. I highly suggest them!
I usually run the air between 20-35 psi depending on what I am currently working on. I would highly suggest also getting some "flow aid" ( I use Liquitex Flow Aid) in a ratio of 1:1:2 (paint:flow aid: isopropyl alcohol). Make sure you get some cleaning solvent for your air brush afterwards. My rig ran around $275 but was well worth the money.
