[Abington] The Inquisitors Ball - 4/17
« on: April 01, 2011, 09:25:13 PM »

You are here by cordially invited to attend the Inquisitors Ball.

Date: April 17th, 2011 a Sunday
Time: 3:00pm
Entrance Fee: Free!

It has come to the Orders attention that one amongst you has become tainted. One of our very own has begun to show signs of Heresy, which has raised suspicions that a Daemonic presence may have penetrated our ranks.

The tainted must be found and purged with the holy flame. Prove your faith and purity by locating the vessel, slaying the host, and destroying the Daemon within.

Please RSVP by signing up with the store staff. (email me at ChaseLaq@gmail.com with any questions)

Attire:
Please bring one 40k Inquisitor and his retinue (spend no more than 400 points).
Please leave your transports at home.
Force Weapons and other multi-wound weapons must be checked at the door and will not be allowed on the Ballroom Battlefield.
Please bring a printed roster with you.

Guests:
We also request that you bring along 2 of your finest Death Cult Assassins.
(These Don’t count toward your total points or warband size allowed)

Rules of Engagement:
The Inquisitors and their henchmen are free to attack anyone they wish.
Assassins may only attack Inquisitors and henchmen. Assassins are not allowed to attack other assassin or the Daemon.

The Preparation:
Once all of the Inquisitors have arrived each players name will be written down on a card and placed on a table face up with the name showing. Then a Loyalty card for each player will be dealt next to his or her name card. The Loyalty cards will be dealt face down.

Entering the Ballroom:
The Ballroom it self will be any suitable gaming table with lots of buildings for terrain.
A deck of cards will be formed with one card for each player. The cards work in the following order Aces High. After the two of a suit is played the Ace of the next suit follows. The suits are in the following order from low to highest Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, and Clubs.
They will be shuffled ad dealt out to the players. The person with the lowest card (the two of hearts)  will deploy his Inquisitor and Retinue anywhere on the board. Then the player with the next highest card deploys. He may deploy anywhere as long as his models are at least 18” away from anyone else’s models. This distance will be lessened to 13” if we have more than 10 players and not enough table room. This continues on until all the players have deployed.

Leading you partner:
The cards will be reshuffled and dealt out again at the beginning of each game turn. This will be used to determine the initiative order of each game turn. Starting with the highest and working our way down each player will move,  once all of the players have moved the player,  with the highest card will shoot, once all of the players have shot the assault phase will commence. (LOTR turn sequence).

Dancing with more than one date:
Starting on a players second turn they may make a reserves roll to bring in their assassins.
A successful roll of 4+ will bring in both assassins. The assassin may immediately be placed nest to any building on the board where they have been hiding in the shadows. The only rule is they may not appear within 1” of any enemy model. The assassins may move and assault as normal the turn they arrive.

Finding the host:
The only way to find the Daemons host is by killing off the other Inquisitors.
When an Inquisitor dies that player flips their Loyalty card. If the =I= symbol appears then the Inquisitor was loyal to the Emperor and died faithfully in his service. However if the Chaos symbol appears that Inquisitor was the vessel. Immediately replace the Inquisitors model with the Daemon. Any henchmen of the fallen Inquisitor who are still alive will now serve the Daemon and stay in play.

Death is only the beginning:
A dead Inquisitor’s retinue and assassins will continue to fight even if their Lord is dead.

Exterminutus:
Once the demon has been killed it is the responsibility of all Good Inquisitors to make sure all of the witnesses are purged, they were probably tainted…its better to be safe than sorry.  The ball is officially closed when only one Inquisitor remains.

Awards

Daemon Slayer: Awarded to the player who delivers the killing blow to the Daemon.

Pure of Heart: Awarded to the players whose Inquisitor is the last one standing.

Most Impressive Inquisitor: A players choice award for the player whose Inquisitor they thought was the coolest.

Motley Crew: A players choice award for the player who has the coolest henchmen.

Sexiest Assassin: A players choice award for the player with the coolest assassin.

Edit:  If you're using the new Grey Knight Codex, please replace "retinue" with "warband".

Also, I have removed the "Every Man for Himself" rules.  Your models will no longer act independently.  This was done in an effort to keep the game moving.  Each player moving 10-12 models will end up taking forever.  We do not want this.  Your Inquisitor is still able to join and leave a squad as normal, however.  This may change again based on feedback.  Feel free to decide whatever you'd like at the event.

Nemesis Force Weapons that MUST be taken (new GK Inquisitors, I guess) will act as a normal weapon of their type instead of being "left at the door".

Why not, isn't this supposed to be a ball (with a few guns)?  By the way what happpens if the last man standing is the corrupted one?

Sounds interesting. Would give me an excuse to paint my inquisitor that's collecting dust.

Abington will see a handful of players at the minimum I think.
