New to WarMachine
« on: February 24, 2011, 08:53:48 PM »
Hi, I was looking at starting WM and I have been trying to pick an army the past week. I have my eyes set on Circle Orboros. I like Baldur and Kromac, but Goss keeps telling me Baldur sucks, but I would like someones opinion who has actually been playing the game longer and/or plays circle. I tried making a quick list including Baldur, Pureblood, Stalker, Woldwarden, Druids, Shifting Stones, and Ravagers. Is there any issue with this or what Im doing completely failed.
Please and Thank You,
NGazerro

And if you think that Circle just completely sucks then what about Merc's.

I am told Circle is one of the best (read: competitive) armies Warmahordes has to offer.

No army sucks. Lists and players suck, apparently you feel I have no idea what I am talking about so just play him and find out. He sucks because you had one or no constructs with him to make him better. But I just talk out my ass. You clearly understand the game more than I do.

Bauldur is fine. Circle is an excellent faction with lots of different playstyles available. Post a list yu were thinking of using and I'll give you some help.

Mercs are rough to play. They lack the synergy factions have and typically are a little underpowered. They're awesome to play and can do well, but they're hard to start with.

Your Baldur list is a good start. You had some points left over, too, so there are a lot of options.

Here's what I'd go with:

Baldur the Stonecleaver +6 points
* Argus 4 points
* Warpwolf Stalker 10 points
* Woldwarden 9 points

Druids of Orboros 7 points
Lord of the Feast 4 points
Shifting Stones 2 points
6 Tharn Bloodtrackers 5 points

you really need around 3 beasts to get the fury you need. So, I thougt the argus wold do since he works well with the Stalker. Sadly, I don't thnk the Ravagers go well with Baldur. The Bloodtrackers gain a lot more and save you a point, letting you take the lord of the feast: the best solo in the game.

He's an awesome character. I can see the appeal. I love his forest theme.

I hope you enjoy the list. It should be a lot of fun to play and all the models look great. Also, all the models are Circle staples, so no matter who you play in the future, these will always be great.

I'm also about to start playing. So far Cryx looks the most interesting to me but so do Menoth, Circle and Everblight.

It's frustrating that there is a major lack of books on a certain store's shelves at the moment.

I would love to this week at either store (except Wednesday) or next Saturday at Plainville.

I'm in NYC right now unfortunately.
