Rules question: Assault Ram
« on: March 20, 2011, 01:23:44 PM »
It's a FW model special rule so bear with me on this.
Quote
Misericorde: The ram’s two hull booms contain heavily armoured
compartments each fitted with multiple retractable inertial
suppression clamps which lock transported troops in place and
protect them from impact. As a result the Caestus Assault Ram
has a transport capacity of ten models which must be either be
in power armour, artificer armour or terminator armour (models
in terminator armour only counting as one model rather than
two for transport as normally would be the case).

Now the questions:
Is it possible to contain both types of models or only one type?
How does this model handle a terminator squad and a power armor chaplain?

I won't give my thoughts on it as to not taint the responses.

Maybe that rule is in place for fluff purposes? I can't imagine scouts using one.

It says it pretty clear.  one type of armor but ten models in that armor.
.....and then scooby said to shaggy, "GHOST?!?!?!?!"

Yes, you can take mix armor types. Though the entry's language is a bit ambiguous, its listing qualifiers for entry.

"The Caestus Assault Ram has a transport capacity of ten models which must either be in power armour, artificer armour or terminator armour."

1. Is the terminator wearing terminator armor?
    > Yes, therefore he may be transported.

2. Is the chaplain wearing power armor?
    > Yes, therefore he may be transported.

At this point, both models are granted access. As there is no language barring a mix of armor types, they may be transported together.

Keep in mind that models in Terminator armor usually count as two models for transport purposes. But yeah, you can mix.

It clearly states that terminators only count as 1 model. When it says they must have X, Y, or Z, I think that's for the purpose of not trying to put a dreadnought in it. I'd say you can mix and match.

Thanks.  At first I thought you couldn't then read it more closely.  I figured but wanted to be 100%.
