The 969th Final Push on Planet Ikarys
-------------------------------------

Commander Trask
Journal Entry 217

Planet Name:  Ikarys
Segmentum:  Obscuruss
Sub-Sector:  Ocularis Terribus (The Eye of Terror)
System:  Sentinel Worlds (Hydra Cordatus)

It has been seven months of fighting on the ground and above the planet. The heretic forces of Chaos are relentless in their attempts to reclaim the territory they have lost to us.  Our supplies have been harried by Chaos fighters and cruisers in orbit and in the skies.

While we make excellent headway on the ground, the battle in the heavens above is a tug of war. No one seems to be winning. I have been informed that during various orbital battles we have already lost three frigate class ships and two supply ships. I feel saddened for all the loss of life in the depths of space even though I am also told our victories have far outweighed the losses.

However, planet side, we have taken all but one sector of the complex. It is hard to even call this place a complex. It is more of a city then anything I have seen. 75% of my forces still remain in fighting condition and we are supported by our brave Legio brothers who have lost two of their four Knight Class titans. One has met its final rest and one is critically wounded and has been sent for field refit and repair.

Some of our engineer boys have found a class of Vulture fighter that I have never seen. It seems to be a slimmed down version of the Valkyrie with no crew compartment but still twin engines. They have been able to get three of them up and running and I am proud of the fear they instill and death they inflict on our enemies.

Today we make our push into the last sector of Storage Facility Omega Echo 9.  We have secured the other 19 sectors though we are harried at weak spots by heretic scouting and skirmishers. We still maintain control over all. As each sector is secured we have activated automated defenses and turrets to assist us in controlling the hard won real estate so bravely fought for.

Our enemy now holds onto Sector 20 which contains one last storage warehouse and 100 square miles of complex.  They have brought in more heavy weapons and vehicles. Defiler class Walkers, Dreadnoughts, and even Predator Tanks await us. Their foul Obliterators hide amongst the ruins and pick at our armor before they are consumed by the Emperor’s Wrath.

The plan is laid out and my field commanders and their staff know the drill. I will be accompanying the final push.

Nothing will stop the Hammer of the Emperor, the Cadian 969th Imperial Guard.

Command Amos Trask

That story is excellent, it makes me wish I could see the battle in a movie.  Is this following any campaign you've been playing or is it all made up?

Just one thing that probably struck only me - The titan legions don't have knights.  :P  Knights are piloted by civillian lords and the like - the super rich upper class - and fight alongside armies just like the legions.  Obviously not a big issue.  Heh.
It's the throwing phase now.

i was on the receiving end on occasion

No made this all up...thought it would make a great campaign...I might just have to do that.. :)

About the Knight Titans I did not know that. In the book Mechanicum it was a Legio that had knights as well... at least on Mars. They had Knights all the way up to Warlord Class titans.

But thanks for the feed back Rob :)

I am going to have this puppy looking like a Data-Slate and be on thick foam board to give it some shape :) should be a nice additional fluff piece to my army :)
