brush fraying

i just got a new brush set, and one of them is fraying really bad and i have barely used it, i try my best to take care of them, make sure theres no residual paint, etc...

could it be a faulty brush, or is there some secret technique that someone has found that works well?

the line is vallejo, both paints and brush, its roughly a small-medium sized brush

Sounds like its just a junk brush. I usually wash my natural hair brushes with master's brush cleaner and shape the point and let them dry with a tiny bit in the bristles. Try that.

If its a synthetic brush, I'd toss it. It'll be harder to get it to take and keep shape, you don't want to doom yourself to fighting that battle every time you want to use it.
