Final NOVA FAQ released
« on: August 17, 2013, 09:58:18 AM »
http://whiskey40k.blogspot.com/2013/08/faq-update-for-nova-2013.html

This is the only document I'm aware of currently attempting to decipher competitive American 40k. Thoughts, questions, concerns?

I would argue that there's no universal truth or trend out there to be "deciphered".  NOVA is DEFINING a consistent ruleset to be used at their event, just as the ETC and ATC did (both of those tourneys had their own published faq's).

While think that any FAQ we adopt now is a vast improvement over no FAQ, I do have a more long term concern:

The NOVA happens at the end of the month.  The next NOVA will not be until next august, so the next revision of the NOVA FAQ probably also won't be until next August.  There will probably be 4 codexes and who knows how many supplements released between those two events (and maybe even some GW FAQ's that override rulings in the forthcoming NOVA FAQ).   So, if Battleground's stance is "NOVA FAQ is in force" this might get to be less and less useful as time goes on.

The INAT was useful because it was continually (or at least, regularly) updated.  The only thing I'm aware of that was attempting to duplicate this was the "indendent tournament" / frontline / bao / adepticon / wargamescon / feast of blades FAQ.   However, unfortunately I seem to be having a hard time locating a more up-to-date version of this.  I haven't heard the frontline guys mention it on the podcast recently, is this still a thing?  Anyone know?

Anyway.  Like I said, right now, using the Nova FAQ would be great.  i just think we should be open to adjusting course as we going along.

I am not a fan of how they Ruled Drop Pods. Their rulings are kind of over the place with them. I agree with Anda codex coming out so fast and they are updating FAQs rather quickly that tying down to a Tournament FAQ is a bad idea.
I ride in on my Bike with my Hat of awesome and say Nay this place should be on fire.

I just read through the entire NOVA packet. Most of it is just explaining things to people who didn't bother to read and think about the rules. I didn't see anything specifically troubling.
