Templecon
« on: September 06, 2011, 11:57:07 PM »
So does anyone here do the Templecon thing? I've always toyed with the idea of getting a group together and seeing how we would fare.

I have to check out the events, but last year they ran a cool three-man team tournament. Would that interest anyone? I'd really love to get a team together - I've got a buttload of Cygnar painted up and could also get to work on Khador, Circle or Ret.

Anyone? Any thoughts? Bueller?

The rules/events are not up yet, but it is safe to assume that the following is true.

1) There will be some kind of team event on friday (NOTE: this means the "team" of you all play individual games against members of another team, not multiplayer games)

2) There will be a Hardcore on Saturday during the day.

3) There will be a "championship" event on sunday with the winners for all people who placed in other events.

4) There will be some "midnight madness events"  like last year's Blood, sweat and Tiers event.

5) There is open gaming from noon Friday till 5 Sunday.

If they follow that team format again in 2012 I'd be pumped.

It was one of their most popular events. So I imagine they will.

I will be there all weekend as I was last year.  Loads of fun!

Maybe we could consider getting a 'team battlegrounds' together. Maybe make shirts or some shizzz.

Or you could buy a Battlegrounds shirt from Battlegrounds and not have to worry about making them.

Let me be more clear. What I suppose I'm pitching is the idea of a Warmachine/Hordes gaming club since some of us aren't necessarily a part of the main Battlegrounds community. I know that myself and a few other split my time between 3-4 stores.

If people aren't interested that's fine, it was just an idea.

I like the idea of the gaming club. That's all I've got to say. Did I also say I was goin to templecon? If not: I'm goin to templecon.

So events are starting to roll in.

Event 1:  Team tournament.

3 players per team, ranked.  (Each team has a Captain, 1st LT and 2nd LT)  They will play their opposing member of the team they are facing.

Each player needs 2 50 point lists.   Character restriction is in effect for player(not team), though warcasters/Warlocks of different versions are considered to be different characters.  (IE you can play each Denegra, but BLT can only be in one of your two lists).

Format is divide and conquer.  Which means you MUST use both of your lists as evenly as you can.

There are 32 teams, which means, 5 rounds.  So you will end up using one list twice and the other three times.

EVENT 2:  Also on friday, Blood sweat and tiers,  Tier 1 required, 35 points, basic painting.

I would be willing to get a team together for Circle or Trolls.  I think it would be cool to get three teams with the same faction and possibly use all different casters!  Good theme.

If people are on board for anything club related or forming up teams we should sort it all out soon.

I personally want to be part of a fully painted team, and also think it'd be good for everyone going to be as fully painted as possible.

I've got just under 240 pts of painted Cygnar and can crank out models for either Ret, Circle or Khador in the interim. I guess I'd just have to know whose interested in teaming with me and what approach to theme they'd like to take.
