So the more I look at them, the more I feel like the two new Cygnar jacks in Wrath are totally unfair creations… and I’m perfectly fine with that.
- Kara Sloan
^ Avenger
^ Cyclone
^ Triumph
^ Squire
- B13
- Nyss Hunters + Murdoch
- Rangers
- Reinholdt
- Stormsmith
- Trencher Master Gunner
It feels weird putting a Master Gunner in a list, but his Synergy with the Avenger is amazing. Between him, Rangers and the aiming bonus the Avenger can be at effective RAT 10 before boosts are factored in so anyone boohooing about RAT 4 can pipe down. Mix in Kara’s feat and there’s two potential chances for KD - perfect for clearing LOS to opposing casters.
- eHaley
^ Avenger
^ Thorn
^ Squire
- ATGM + UA
^ Hunter
- B13
- Stormblades + UA + x3 WA
- Anastasia
- Jr.
- Trencher Master Gunner
My only thought here is Stormblades vs. Stormguard and Rhupert. But that’s besides the point because I think I found the most horrible thing a Cygnar player can do to an opponent. eHaley loads up her bonded Avenger with three focus, casts Temporal Acceleration on him, blows feat. The Master Gunner adds +2 to attack rolls to the Avenger. If necessary she can also use Telekinesis to position potential targets. Avenger advances up to 8" if need be and plops two KD templates into the enemy army. On your opponent’s turn affected models have to forfeit either move or action because of Haley’s feat. Then KD models forfeit their remaining move or action to stand up meaning those models effectively do nothing that activation…
At some point in all this mayhem mix in Anastasia’s Espionage ability for good measure.
Moving on from the Avenger…
- Kraye
^ Cyclone
^ Hunter
^ Hunter
^ Minuteman
^ Stormclad
^ Sylys
- B13
- Rangers
- Min. Trencher Commandos + x3 WA
I think Sylys beats out the Squire for a few Cygnar casters - Kraye possibly being one of them. You’re probably only upkeeping one spell with Kraye so it might as well be for free - essentially giving Kraye 6 focus to work with every turn instead of only 3 turns. The RNG boost for his offensive spells is nice too unless you opt for an arc node.
Under Full Tilt the Minuteman can potentially move 22” and then pop his Flak Field - costing only 2-3 focus (1 for Bounding Leap, 1-2 for Full Tilt depending on if you cast it or upkept it). With AD he can be 36-38” up the table turn 1. I really can’t believe this guy’s potential threat range. Certainly some of this equates him to being a suicide squad, but it seems insanely useful for taking out enemy AD and high DEF units.
Lots of fun stuff in Wrath. Integrating it all is challenging for me right now. Also, I’m having trouble figuring out how to best use Constance. Oddly I feel like Stormguard are the melee unit to run with her. Set Defense + Rhupert + Arcane Shield + feat seems to make them best suited to lead your army in since they can absorb a charge and any who do die generate souls which make the survivors tougher.
