Ret list review.
« on: June 19, 2011, 12:17:59 AM »
So, I played in a 50pt steamroller today.  All games were extremely close.  I definitely need more practice with ret before doing 50 point timed turns.   Here is what I brought.

Kaelyssa
-Pheonix
Full invictors, UA
MHSF, UA
AFG
Destor Thane x2
MHA
Ghost Sniper x2
arcanist.

And

Rahn
-Pheonix
Battle mages x2
full halberds, UA, Souless
stormfall archers
Destor thane x2
Scyreth Issen
MHA x2
Narn
Arcanist.

I liked my Kaelyssa list a lot, my Rahn list took to long to play turns out and that hurt me.  For Kaelyssa, I am going to add Ayania + Holt and drop the ghost snipers.

I'm glad to see you used that list you played with me. Double Destors is so rough. Despite loving that list, I can definitely see the desire to use A&H. You've got a lot of shots, but none of them really break hard armor. I think it'll be a beast now. How did the Battle Engine do?

I'm not surprised to hear that about the Rahn list. It looks like it generates about a million rolls every turn. It's probably worse on feat turn. Shame, it looks like a nice list. No Magisters, though? I'm a little surprised by that, but I suppose you make up for it by being less feat dependent. Did you find yourself missing them?

Yeah, In round 3 I played a terminus infantry jam, and basically killed everything except Terminus and Gerlack in 2 turns.   But found myself lacking in taking out hard targets.

The AFG did well.  It forced Danny to feat with eSkarre early when he realized DeathJack was standing in water and I have a RAT 9 shot with knockdown.  It is good at taking out models that are incoporeal and hitting key models from far away.

Did not miss magisters, I just left Rahn a little too close to greatbears (I forgot that eButcher's fear allows them to activate AGAIN.  I just thought he handed out "focus" to units.  My own mistake.  Too many rolls though.  I think my Rahn list will do much better once the new jacks are out and I have less units.  Turns took too long.  So I either need to get better/faster with is, or change it.   I am liking Kaelyssa more than Rahn though.   Trying to think of another caster to use.   Possibly Garryth....

Perhaps the Hydra in List 1, with AFG it has Range 17", then with Phantom seeker it can keep those pesky casters at bay.  Or better yet dead!

I typically run Chimera's with both Rahn and Kaelyssa.  extra focus on Chimera makes it DEF 15 against range and magic.
You're putting words in my mouth and creating false scenarios.

You'll get "real answers" when you recognize your fallacies, however, they won't be from me. Enjoy your Internet tough guy routine. - Ian

I tend to like an ArcNode with Kaelyssa, but I have definately thought about a Hydra.
