New Players What they Need
« on: May 18, 2011, 02:04:03 AM »
Hey guys been trying to get my friend interested in Miniature Wargaming and since Warmachine/Hordes caught his eye. I was wondering how much money we would need to get started and what would be the best things to get to start off.
I ride in on my Bike with my Hat of awesome and say Nay this place should be on fire.

Warmachine and Hordes are pretty awesome in terms getting started.  The Battlegroups (Warmachine) or Warpacks (Hordes) are $49.99 and come with everything one person needs to start the game.

They include the quick start rules and stat cards for each piece in the box.

We've had a large influx of new players over the past 1.5 months and the Battlegroups / Warpacks have done really well and have had great reviews from new players.

I suggest starting there or even picking up the rulebook ($29.99) and reading a bit about the game and each faction before buying models.

$250 will get you a 35 point (what people play) and the rulebook etc with no problem.  This is not set in stone, but just giving you an estimate.

If I didn't have the rulebook, yes it wouldve been like 265.  Like I said this is just so you have the finds to do whatever you want.  Usually my lists range fro
175-230 the rulebook is 30 softcover 50 hardcover or something in thy ball park.  There is no difference beyond how pretty hardcover looks next to all the softies.

If you stop by tonight in Abington there will be tons of helpful people including: Ian, rich, Rick, Matt, Ed, and myself.  We will all love to bicker over what is best for you to buy for an army. :)
