Please let me know as soon as you can. You guys (the rumor mill) know before I do.
Thanks.
-
i want my new codex lol

I had heard that The Hobbit had been delayed because of quality issues with the Smaug model.

This would be awesome.
I get why they've got to release The Hobbit stuff with the movie, but why GW doesn't release anything remotely close to relevant the 2 months leading up to Christmas is one of the first things in a long list of stuff I don't understand about how they do business.
-
Yes, all rumors are pointing to Tyranids launching December 7.
I'm all over it... putting my other projects on hold most likely.
-
Tyranids are one of the only armies whose models are SO cool that I don't really feel compelled to seek out alternate models for them (for the most part).... in the same category as Dark Eldar for me.
-
Supposed pre order date Nov 30th
-
I would also take this as extremely likely Chase, people are posting pics of some of the models, which is generally the most accurate sign.
-
Looks like I'd better get something together for December then.
December is always tough and I wanted to avoid a rush job... but....

They are evolving, check out the new guns (far left)
I still think they are coming out in January
-
I'd like to see a December tournament, sure.
Bugs are fun to squish.

Yeah, I saw this pic a couple days ago.
I really, really hope they show up in December, but I'm not sure what that means for GWs schedule. Do they release WITH The Hobbit stuff? That's a jam packed month. I feel like it's more likely that they're held until January, which is why I want you guys to keep me posted. Jason typically does a pretty good job there.
I hadn't heard about problems with Smaug though. Can they really afford to push back The Hobbit release until after the movie? Man... I guess we'll find out. Either way I've got some stuff in the works for December. Tonight / tomorrow will be busy.
-
It always surprises me that the hobbit game sells anything.
Yes, rumor is the Hobbit stuff got pushed back January. December release for tyranids is looking pretty real at this point.
-
I very strongly doubt The Hobbit would ever be delayed, as GW has to meet contractual obligations to the companies pulling the strings with the Hobbit license( The Saul Zaentz Company d/b/a Middle-earth Enterprises under license to New Line Productions, Inc) to be specific.
It's not an "inhouse" IP that GW can just toss on the backburner whenever they like, if The Hobbit was delayed past the release time of the movie, I guarentee The Saul Zaentz Company would crush GW's ass for failure to meet any contractual obligations for release. Fyi The Saul Zaentz Company is just as sue happy as GW, they have owned certain LOTR and Hobbit rights since 1976. They are partly to blame for the 10 year delay for the Hobbit movies and even in 2011, began several legal actions against small businesses in the UK who used the "hobbit" word, to enforce their "Hobbit" trade mark.
So in conclusion, GW is not the only company that is profiting off of The Hobbit game.
-
Shrug, that's the rumor.
I am really pretty sure Tyranids are indeed Dec 7th, it has all the usual markers at this point. I neither really know nor care about the hobbit.
-
The Hobbit has some good models for 40k proxy. The Goblin Warriors box has 18 models for $35 and they'd make great plague zombies, while the Balrog model is one of GW's best, IMO.
But I don't know anyone who's played the game outside the demos Sam ran.
-

A December tournament would be nice but it's a difficult month with Christmas parties and people traveling, i think we had this problem last year which is why the Invitational tournament got pushed to January.
If BG did try to get a tournament done in December i imagine either early in the month before Saturdays are taken over by Christmas parties might be a safe bet, maybe after Christmas would work as well?
It stands to reason that Januarys tournament would be 1850 for Templecon prep, a doubles or trios would be cool for December but if BG wanted to do it early in the month thats short notice to put together teams.

If Tyranids are Dec, has the rumor mill mentioned anything about Jan? Is it a straight flip-flop of the release schedule?
The Hobbit is a cool game and the models are nice, but it's... well... Let's just say it's not very popular.
I've got what I think is a cool idea for an event, but jamming it into Dec is tough. MAYBE December 28th, but that's not ideal. I'd rather run on the 1st and 3rd weekend in Jan. We'll have an event for the miniature gaming community in Abington early this December for sure, but it's not a tournament.
Have I ever mentioned that I absolutely HATE that GW doesn't tell me anything about their release schedule?

All I've seen is pre orders Nov 30th and release Dec 7th seems pretty solid. I've seen nothing about hobbit getting pushed or flopped but I don't really follow that stuff.
It does stand to reason they'd want it to coincide with the movie but I guess time will tell

The Dwarf warriors are excellent too, way better then the Fantasy range.

An alternate rumor is that Tyranids will get a 2 month release window, just like Dark Elves did for Oct/Nov. Either way we will all know for sure in about two weeks, since GW does all its preorders on the last Saturday of the month.
-
Any updates on this?
-
How sad is it that they guy that owns the store that sells the GW product has to relay on rumors from the customers about the products he is supposed to be selling.
-
Any updates on this?
seems like it was solid for pre-orders next Saturday but now is pretty questionable, especially given as we haven't seen any White Dwarf leaks
This Tyranid thing is just about killing me. Simply because we had several sources here that have a solid track record saying Tyranids are moving up, mostly due to issues with the Hobbit and more specifically the Smaug model.
This mornings rumor, is telling us that Tyranids in December is not going to happen, and that the Smaug issue is not enough to move the release forward. Tyranid rumors are exhausting of late.
Please remember that these are rumors.

- Nids still in January
As I was told, it`s false to asume that Nids are preset to December because of the Smaug disaster
- Smaug
The Dragon was not rejected by WB due to the model but due to the size. GW was told when they want to make one it has to be in the same proportion as the
other model range leaving us with a roughly 35” Dragon which is not going to happen
Looks like December might be the Escalation supplement (super heavies in normal 40k games)
-
I for one would buy a 36" dragon

Dang... I started making a Tyranid display board already, in a desparate attempt to finish a full size Tyranid army by Templecon... even though I don't know what nids are actually going to be in the army yet, haha. If the book & new models don't come out Dec 7 it makes that plan unrealistic, unless I just kind of commit to using all of the models I already have, regardless of rules, & adding a few more...

It sounds like GW wants to start spreading releases over 2 months, it'll be strange if they release new models before the codex though. Guess we will know in a week, hopefully nids sneak in under the 30 day wire for templecon

Well considering half the tyranid units in the codex don't have models it wouldn't be unrealistic.
-
Put me in for one Tyranids vs Hobbits battle box.
-
Well here's the nail in the coffin Chase, a trailer is out for the new expansions. Pre orders Saturday

Boooooooo.
-
I was very surprised by this. Seems like it might have been a circumstance of basic f__ups with certain GW items, both to get tyranids pushed forwards, and then it seems pushed back again.
-
I don't know why people are surprised, GW never releases codices in December. Tyranids where always planned for Jan, the rest were just fake rumor mongers that want to feel important and get attention.
