Title: Saturday, Saturday, SATURDAAAAAY
Post by: bradpowers on June 07, 2012, 05:35:25 PM
Hi all,

Anyone interested in getting in a game or two this Saturday?  I'd like to get a few games in, particularly at 1500 points to practice with my tourney list.

There is a good chance Hans and I will be by with 1500 pt lists. Either of us would be happy to play a game.

Edit: Good point; we'll be at Plainville. Not sure where you play

I'll probably be around the Plainville store Saturday, if your still in need of a game.

Just a heads up, this Saturday is TotalCon Game Day in Plainville from open - close.

There will be tables available for miniature gaming, but it will likely be crowded in the afternoon.

Is that the thing with free stuff?

Nope, no free stuff.  It's a local convention based around RPGs and board games.  They get together in Plainville a couple times a year for a "game day."

The next time we do giveaways will likely be whenever we host our 6th ed kickoff party.

Well, I think I'm going to head to Plainville, as it looks like I'll be able to get in more games.  That said, if it gets too crowded in the afternoon, I'll drive to Abington, and continue my epic Saturday.

See you guys tomorrow!

PS.  GW just posted something about 6th on their website....  The Imperial Acquila in flames???  I'm excited!

Video implies 6th Edition is dropping in two weeks, on the 23rd.

Yeah... June 23rd...

I'm thinking that's when they're going to tell us that 6th is going on sale on the 7th of July.

GW usually gives me 2 weeks notice, which would mean today.  Also, you'd figure pictures would be leaked already...

They're doing a good job keeping people in the dark.

Of course they'll keep us in the dark.

It is a fact that gaming is serious business. Ed thinks gaming is about fun, but he's wrong.

Three excellent games today! Brad, thank you for the game. Always good to play against a new type of list with a new army.

Absolutely!  I'm glad I was able to get three games in, and I had a load of fun.  Thanks everybody who played this random stranger who's hoping to be not such a stranger in the future!

I got in three games as well, really learned quite a bit about my new army. Kind of important stuff too, especially figuring it out *before* the tournament next weekend.

Did you try out starting with stuff on the board? I'm curious how that would work out for you.

In all three games, I started everything but Belial & upgraded squad and a Heavy Flamer squad (yup, found room for the Heavy Flamer).

Against the Blood Angels, I made two critical failures understanding the enemy's capability, and Lemartes & power weapon Death Company made sure the mistakes were not corrected. Against the Orks, I should have been more aggressive overall. Also, dakka jets are pretty damn good.

It was the third match against Eldar when the army started to make more sense. I deployed three columns of 5 Terminators side-by-side and marched them up the middle of the board. I used the bikers properly at last. Again, I don't think I was aggressive enough, which is a mistake I make too often. This time though, the game ended in a draw.

I'm loving Deathwing so far. They're just really simple and my turns are lightning fast. They definitely have significant weakness, but I'm having fun for now.

Only if you woke up screaming "Why won't his last squad die?!?"

I know I did.  My roommate thought a girl was in the apartment after my bloodcurdling screams...
