The Junior Planeswalker Society is Battleground’s new program that is designed specifically to provide a fun, safe environment for kids who are interested playing or learning the trading card game Magic: The Gathering.
We believe tabletop games develop social skills and strategic thinking, and Battleground wants to help make these games available and accessible to the community. The Junior Planeswalkers Society aims to create a group setting to support young players, where they can make friends and improve their critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills. Our staff will be on hand to help, teach, coach, introduce, and play. No experience required!
The Junior Planeswalker Society will meet every Friday from 4:00pm – 7:00pm beginning October 7th.

Hey everyone! We’re back with another episode of Sword and Shield. I guess some of you actually liked it, so we did another episode. This week, we’ve got Andrew Pegg-Wheat. If you’ve ever ordered a card from the store and recieved it by mail, Andrew is the guy who probably packed the card for you and shipped it. On this week’s episode, we talk about some Pokemon, Netrunner, and then tackle Conspiracy 2: The Empty Throne. However, Wizards has been having fun and changed the name again. Now it’s Conspiracy 2: Empty Throne!
Also in this episode, my mic sounded low. I’m always working on perfecting the sound quality, so let me know if you have any suggesstion (or if you want to buy me some professional equipment). Anyways, sit back and enjoy the show. Don’t forget to share it with your friends as well!

Pauper has become quite the format on Magic Online once again thanks to the re-introduction of league play. Today I wanted to quickly look over one of the popular decks currently being played in the format. In paper form, these decks tend to be on the very affordable side of the spectrum. However, because some of these cards have seen limited print runs online, they can be somewhat expensive digitally.
Right now, let’s take a look at RUG Tron:
Main board
4 Fangren Marauder
4 Mulldrifter
4 Sea Gate Oracle
1 Ulamog’s Crusher
4 Ancient Stirrings
2 Rolling Thunder
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Chromatic Sphere
4 Chromatic Star
4 Expedition Map
4 Prismatic Lens
4 Prophetic Prism
4 Haunted Fengraf
1 Shimmering Grotto
4 Urza’s Mine
4 Urza’s Power Plant
4 Urza’s Tower
Side board
3 Circle of Protection: Green
3 Circle of Protection: Red
2 Doom Blade
3 Earth Rift
4 Rest for the Weary
I haven’t played this deck, but I have gone up against it. And it’s quite the deck. Now, the deck I played against online was a mono green version, but I couldn’t find the exact list. However, it didn’t differ much from this list besides the fact that it didn’t play blue or red. This list is still just as good and I still would have been smashed by this deck.
The mono green deck I played against replaced Sea Gate Oracle with Fierce Empath to tutor for the big creatures in the deck. It also replaces Mulldrifter with Maul Splicer for some scary synergy and more creatures to beat you with.
It looks like a very fun deck to play. You get to cast some ridiculously big creatures during turns you normally wouldn’t. However, it’s biggest weakness is against counter spells. It can only say okay to them and shrug it’s shoulders. So if you play against a deck like Mono Blue Delver, just play your spells. You can try to wait for an opening, but thanks to spells like Cloud of Faeries, Snap, and Spellstutter Sprite, they can have quite the number of resources available to them.
Well that’s it for now. See you all next time…
