Ron, I really think you should play against Jason. He's got a Grey Knight army ready to rock, but has been stocking up on Necrons as well. I think two heads talking about the new codex and playing it will be very fruitful.

I'm looking ahead toward December. Feedback on this idea (in the other thread) would be appreciated, since all y'all would be the beneficiaries.

I hope you all don't mind my proxy pariahs as praetorians.  After all they both begin with "P".

Are pariahs even in the new book?

out of curiosity, what do you see in the triarchs? to me they seem like way too many points for something that only has 1 attack at WS4. IM not saying they are terrible, but what is your plan for them?

English major time!

Here's the statement we're dealing with: "Any Unit, friendly or enemy, under this line takes a number of hits equal to the number of models in the unit under the line."

Sadly, the phrase "under the line" is ambiguous as to what noun it modifies; there's some words left out. Compare:

Any Unit, friendly or enemy, under this line takes a number of hits equal to the number of models in the unit that are under the line.

or

Any Unit, friendly or enemy, under this line takes a number of hits equal to the number of models in the unit that is under the line.

Without those clarifying words, the sentence means neither and both equally; we don't know if "under the line" refers to the unit or the models. However, there are two points to consider:

1. The sentence already specifies that the unit is under the line (after "friendly or enemy"), so to state it again at the end would be redundant. That's a reasonable indicator that "under the line" refers to the models.

2. It's supremely unlikely that GW intends for Necrons to be tossing around the equivalent of apocalypse templates.

As such, if this comes up at the Doubles event, expect me to rule that the number of models under the line determines the number of hits. So, don't spam Death Rays and expect to just flat-out win in turn one.

So Thursday 40k this week got off to a really slow start. There was a Black Reach demonstration, and a match up made of Space Wolves vs Tau. And as I sat down for my time in Fantasy (RPG) Land, looked like it'd be a quiet night.

Around 7:30, the doors burst opens and lots more people showed up. Later than usual by a bunch but yay 40k.

Necrons vs Dark Angels
Eldar vs Tau
Orks vs Tau
Chaos Space Marines vs Tyranids

Probably another game I'm missing, but a solid turnout.

Next week, I have no excuses, no way out. Daemons vs Necrons. Wes needs to pick a point value so he knows how many points he's taking off the table.
